SCE Counselling

SCE Counselling Counselling services in Newfoundland and Labrador provided by a Canadian Certified Counsellor.

We respectfully acknowledge the territory in which we gather as the ancestral homelands of the Beothuk, and the island of Newfoundland as the ancestral homelands of the Mi’kmaq and Beothuk. We would also like to recognize the Inuit of Nunatsiavut and NunatuKavut and the Innu of Nitassinan, and their ancestors, as the original people of Labrador. We strive for respectful relationships with all the

peoples of this province as we search for collective healing and true reconciliation and honour this beautiful land together.

As Truth and Reconciliation week begins, it is important for all of us to continue learning the truths and stories of Residential School survivors, families and communities. We need to honour and keep these stories safe for future generations.

All of this begins with education. There are many resources available and I encourage everyone to explore and learn throughout this week.

It's common to know people who try to appear more powerful over others, whether they are bullies or individuals that believe they are more important than others. Do you know someone like this?

Did you know that respect is simply listening to someone and trying to understand them?

An unfortunate statistic is that "56% of struggling Canadians are not getting the mental health help they need." https://www.mhrc.ca/key-facts-on-mental-health

There are still so many barriers in the way of everyone getting the help they need and deserve. They include a lack of coverage in provincial health plans, financial barriers, and those tough to shake stigmas surrounding mental health.

It's okay to need help. We all do at some point in our lives. You matter. Mental health matters.

Many of us (including myself) are living with a chronic medical illness or condition. Did you know that a chronic illness is defined as one lasting at least a year and requires ongoing medical care or limits daily activity?
