If you, like me, had a child labeled as a challenging student due to struggles with focus, impulsivity, and restlessness, then you understand the profound impact and personal relevance of this journey. For adults embracing life with Adult ADHD and have seen me for support, you will have heard me advise that it's crucial to acknowledge that guilt and shame are counterproductive emotions that intensify negative self-talk. Instead, I suggest to approach daily tasks with a growth mindset; when a task doesn't unfold as planned, let's reassess the approach to identify areas for improvement. (Like a recipe that didnโt turn out as planned, what ingredients may have been missing or techniques to be learnedโฆ. Throwing the cake in the garbage and calling it terrible wonโt help you make a better cake next time)
