Today we had the pleasure of welcoming Deputy Minister of Mental Health and Addictions, Evan Romanow, and our very own MLA Nolan Dyck to our facility.

They toured our new building, giving us the opportunity to share the growing need for a faith-based program like ours in the community.

We also discussed sustainable funding for the future expansion and growth, and what faith-based recovery programs and the Alberta Government can do together here in Grande Prairie.

We’re grateful for the time, conversation, and continued dialogue around mental health and addiction supports. 💙

On Wednesday, we celebrated Austin’s graduation from the Rising Above program!

Austin has put in an incredible amount of hard work, commitment, and perseverance to reach this milestone in his recovery. There have been many peaks and valleys along the way, but he stayed the course—and today, he stands on the other side healthier, happier, and stronger.💙

Our Story

Rising Above started as a small men’s recovery center in 2007 in downtown Grande Prairie. Our focus at the time was on those who were facing chronic homelessness and addictions. Since the beginning, we have based our 6-Month Residential Treatment Program on our H.E.L.P.S model (Housing, Employment Readiness, Life-Skills, Personal Development, and Spiritual Formation). By using this model, countless people have embraced recovery and learned vital skills to help them integrate back into society and go on to lead happy and healthy lives.
