Winter Travel Safety Tips – Be Ready Before You Hit the Road!

Winter in Alberta brings unpredictable weather, icy roads, and fast-changing conditions. A few extra minutes of preparation can make all the difference in getting you to and from work safely.

🚧 Working at Heights: Inspect. Anchor. Protect. 🚧

Inspect Your Gear: Before climbing, always check harnesses, lanyards, and anchors. 77% of fatal falls in Alberta’s oil & gas industry were from heights between 2002–2023.

🚨 Confined Space Safety: Test. Ventilate. Monitor. 🚨

Test Before Entry: Oxygen below 19.5% or the presence of H₂S, CO, or methane can be deadly. On average, ~100 confined space fatalities occur annually in Canadian workplaces.

Ventilate & Purge: In 90% of confined space rescues, the original entrant suffers a medical emergency due to atmosphere change. Proper ventilation prevents secondary casualties.
