You may be asking yourself why equine massage?

Well, to answer that there are several reasons to want to get your horse friend massaged. Horses much like humans experience stress and tension whether that be due to environmental factors, training, or even just changes in their everyday life. Massage can assist in relieving that stress and tension. Massage can also help to prevent injuries as well as assist in the healing and rehabilitation process by increasing blood circulation, reducing scar tissue, or breaking scar tissue up to allow for more flexibility in the tissue. Massage also can improve a horse's range of motion to make movement easier and this leads to better performance as well as many other benefits.

On top of the physical benefits, massage also has many positive effects on a horse's mental and emotional state. Massage therapy is well known to be both calming and relaxing, this can help to reduce anxiety, calm horses down, allow the horse to relax, and regulate the nervous system.

Hello, my name is Abigail Munn and for the past year I have been a student at Olds College of Agriculture and Technology taking the equine massage program.

ABC Equine Massage started out of a desire to be able to help my own horses to live to their fullest potential, and this desire has only grown. The name ABC comes from some of the horses in my life who have had the biggest influence on me, the A being my very first horse Angel who taught me how to ride and made me fall in love with horses. The B comes from a mare named Bobby who was terrified of everyone but taught me the true meaning of trust and partnership. And the C is for Captian a stallion who waited at the gate for me to return home and taught me the meaning of resilience.

I am still striving to learn every day to do the best that I can for both your horses and my own. I hope that you may join me on this journey!
