Granisle pharmacy will be open Tuesday to Friday next week . We have internet issues that will affect putting Through prescriptions on Monday. Will make up for it by opening Friday instead .

To our valued Granisle patients,

Giving the hardship in getting access to care , and having to drive or take the bus to the nearest clinic to you , we have been working hard on providing a solution to ease that hardship, and instead of you going to see the doctor, we are bringing the doctor to you

We have been negotiating with the leaders of virtual clinics in Canada for the past two months, and we are glad to announce that we signed with one of the leader companies in Canada to provide the service in Granisle. It hasn’t been easy giving the small population of the village of Granisle , at the same time we didn’t want to sign with a mediocre company, so we leveraged the fact that we own 4 pharmacies in Granisle, Southside , Liloet and our biggest pharmacy in Fort St.James . We did have to pay a little extra to make sure we get the service of one of the best companies in Canada in the Telemedicine field, and today we signed the contract.

What does this mean to you ?

This means that in the upcoming week to two weeks we will have a virtual clinic inside the pharmacy , the lead time to see a doctor is 1-3 hours depending on the doctors availability. The company has 100 doctors in Ontario and 12 doctors in BC , and they are working on increasing their roster of doctors in BC .

So for all of you struggling to see a doctor, rest assured, you will be in good hands , the more you use this free service, the better perks we will get out of this company. So we hope this will solve the problem of access to care and all you need to do is call the pharmacy and book the time that works for you within our business hours .

If we see a value and an increase in using the service and filling the prescription at our Granisle pharmacy, we will consider opening a fifth day on Friday ,
We are also considering opening the front store ( not the dispensary) on Saturdays during camping season and invest in more front store products.

Once we see a growth in the use of our Granisle pharmacy, we will be getting peripherals ( devices that link to the virtual device (screen) and help the doctor do a full physical check up like stethoscope , tongue depressor, otoscope ( device used to check the ear
, X-Ray , INR testing, A1C testing, Thyroxine levels texting and way more .

Please help us grow our business to help you get state of the art medical services… and we have more we
are working on to improve the quality of life in Granisle like an ATM machine (we are getting closer to providing one inside the pharmacy very soon .

We will let you know once the service of telemedicine takes off so you start booking for appointments and save yourself a costly and time consuming trips to the nearest doctor.

Dear Granisle patients,

We are bringing a new service to town that will help you get doctors appointments, specialists appointments, from the comfort of the pharmacy private room . We partnered with one of the country’s pioneered virtual clinics operators. We will apply this very soon .
For interested patients, please register your name with Tammy or Pam at the pharmacy to schedule your appointments. The second phase will be investing in Point of Care Lab testing gadgets . So you can have your blood work done at the pharmacy.

The brochure attached gives a better understanding of the program.

To our valued customers at Southside,

Thanks to your ongoing support, and the appreciation and use of our services in Southside Telepharmacy . We are pleased to announce that our business hours will now increase to 3 days a week Starting May 9th .

The opening hours will be. :

Tuesday 10 am-5:30 pm
Wednesday 10 am- 5:30 pm
Thursday 10 am -5:30 pm

This will be on a trial basis for 2 months , but we are confident of your support to the pharmacy to stay open and maybe increase opening hours beyond the 3 days a week .

On another note , we are finalizing getting licensed for veterinarian medications. Once we finish in the coming couple weeks , we will start sourcing out suppliers .

Our Valued Granisle Clients ,

We learned today that a healthcare centre is spreading rumours about our Granisle pharmacy staff and COVID.
We want to assure you that we would never open doors if a staff member has any kind of contagious illness . And the rumours are just another attempt to smear our reputation for reasons we are still trying to fathom. But will leave this to Northern Health investigation and to the lawyers to figure out since this been happening for months and there should be a stop to all this unprofessional nonsense. We invested hundreds of thousands in this community to serve the people not to be distracted in side battles.
But seems like this has to be dealt with firmly because this affects our reputation, our staff that make livings from their jobs and all the patients that count on us and want us to stay in this community.

It is unfortunate that we have to deal with healthcare professionals with that attitude. We operate and operated in 6 different communities and never faced something like that .

Anyways, we want to assure you that there are NO basis whatsoever to these rumours and our staff are healthy and if we ever have a situation where there is a threat to the public, we would never open doors .

Please if you have any questions regarding the pharmacy, phone the pharmacy directly since ,in this case , is the only legitimate party to get the correct information.

Hi granisle patients,

Unfortunately I have been sick with bronchitis and made my new lovely assistant sick as well and the last thing I want is to make any of our patients sick. We have been on medication and have one day left to finish. I was wanting to know if people would rather have us open tomorrow and Friday regular hours, or try and tough it out today? I have to meet our delivery driver to get our drug order around 1 pm, so if there is anything urgent that anyone needs, please leave a message prior to 1, or come in around 1 and I will talk to you in the parking lot and get you what you need. Dear Southside Patients,

We are very close to obtaining a veterinarian license. Which will allow us to stock and sell all kinds of veterinarian products (prescriptions and OTC )

But giving how many products available, we cannot stock everything, we will stock the basics.
And we ask you to stop by the pharmacy when it’s open and tell our technician Shawna Black , about what kind of products you will need .

Being located in an area with many farmers and many kinds of animals, the pool of meds to choose from is huge so we will need your help .

We also plan on adding an opening day to bring open days to 3 days a week .

We hope that you all take advantage of the service and support your local pharmacy .

ETA is April 5th , so the more information we can gather the better selection of products we will have available to you

Dear People of Granisle,

We hired Pamela Weston as a pharmacy Assistant at out Granisle location to help Tammy ( registered pharmacy technician) in daily workflow.
This will help getting your prescriptions filled faster , and will help Tammy not having to fill prescriptions, work the Till , answer phone calls alll at the same time .
We have a solid plan for operation going forward, and i want to thank all of you who decided to transfer back to the local pharmacy in Granisle. We definitely cannot stay in operation without your support… so THANK YOU.
And to the people who fill their prescriptions in Burns Lake or Houston, we would love to have you as our patients, we ask you to give your local pharmacy a chance and help us bring more services and probably businesses to town .

To our Valued Granisle Patients.

***** update: the pharmacy in Granisle will be open on Wednesday and Thursday this week instead of Monday and Tuesday… starting the following week we are back to our regular hours Monday-Thursday

The pharmacy will be open this coming Wednesday and Thursday. And we will decide on the opening hours during the next two weeks depending on the demand and the use of the services. We have been on open 4 days a week as a test for over 2 months now . But we learned that opening 4 days had no real tangible impact on the numbers compared to opening 3 days .
We hope that more people use our / your local pharmacy in. Granisle. We are having a meeting today to address all of your concerns. Having to close doors for a few days in the last month was because of medical reasons concerning our Registered technician Tammy . And it was the doctor’s order for her to take a week off or else we are liable to anything that could happen to her . We tried to find a replacement on a short notice with no luck and this doesn’t surprise me giving that we have been looking for a Registered Pharmacy Technician for 3 years . And we pay top dollars per hour , equivalent to a pharmacist wage in metropolitan Vancouver area ,, plus signing bonus , moving forward expenses, retention bonus , accommodation, company car , extended medical and more . And despite that we had no luck at all finding someone.
On a positive note i want to take the opportunity to talk to you about some exciting new services we are bringing to Granisle in the coming couple months :

1- ATM machine: we noticed that there are no places in the village to withdraw cash . We are in talks with RBC , scotiabank and CIBC . And so far , we are making progress and should see a machine inside of the Granisle pharmacy very soon

2- We are underway to getting licensed as Veterinarian Pharmaceuticals provider and will be carrying animals supply, our focus in Granisle will be mainly for home pets like dogs and cats

3- We contract a very smart physician to work with us in our 3 locations. Dr.Boris will be visiting Granisle twice a month for now and we will announce the dates at the beginning of each month so you could book an appointment in advance .

4- A vending machine stationed outside of the pharmacy will be coming soon to our Granisle location.

Thank you all for all the support during the past 7 years we’ve been in pharmacy business in Granisle. It is very tough to operate a rural pharmacy like this , from the staffing issues and not being able to hire Registered pharmacy technicians as per the rules of the college of pharmacists of BC , we asked for an exception in the cases when Tammy is sick or has a family matter to use a pharmacy assistant instead short term , but they we adamant about not opening without having a licensed pharmacy technician. We will keep looking and hopefully will have someone licensed . As i said before we pay top dollar plus plus and will keep trying.
Please also bare in mind that our pharmacy is to service the elderlies in the community which is more than 80% of the population, and i will be honest with you, we didn’t open that pharmacy to make money. There is not enough clientele base . And despite the push back from my partners at the time and my accountant about opening a pharmacy in Granisle, i decided on opening despite not being a profitable business, it’s not always about money. And in this case it’s about helping seniors who devoted their lives working and paying taxes to this country. Those people need a break , and the least thing we can do is to give them one of the basics rights in life : access to care .
BUT , for us to be able to continue operating and be able to bring the 4 new services mentioned earlier we need you - the people of Granisle- to help us by using the service our pharmacy provides rather than boycotting it or using out of town pharmacies , that’s the only way to keep that pharmacy running. I hope you all do .
We know we’re not perfect and we make mistakes like all human beings, but we are working on optimizing our operation , enhance the proficiency , and learn from our mistakes. So please support us instead of bashing us . We are there for you, and like i said we don’t make profit and I don’t care much about that giving that i am paying back to the country that offered me the opportunity to grow and succeed .

I hope to see you All on Monday, to show your support to your local pharmacy, and to help us make the decision of keeping that pharmacy in operation, and add to our services .

The amount of bullying and condescending messages our only staff in Granisle pharmacy received this past week is totally unacceptable. We opened the pharmacy to serve people who had to drive for hours to the nearest pharmacy. We open 4 days a week and we open on weekends sometimes to catch up on work and we get nothing but bullies and threats to complain when everyone is getting their meds . We are rethinking keeping the pharmacy open with the amount of disrespect from patients and nurses . We are open during holidays season except for two days .It is not our problem that the health unit is closed for 2 weeks . We are not . We don’t expect appreciation anymore but at least no bullying and personal attack on our pharmacy technician who is devoting her life , living in Granisle to serve the mainly senior population.
Going forward all bullies will be banned from filling prescriptions at our store . And we will apply zero tolerance to bad behaviour and the direct attack on an employee of ours who is trying her best to serve the people of Granisle. What a shame
