🧡 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Today, we pause to honour the survivors of residential schools, the children who never returned home, and the families and communities forever impacted.

At SDNPC, we acknowledge the ongoing impacts of colonialism and the need for meaningful reconciliation in health care and beyond. We recognize the strength, resilience, and wisdom of Indigenous Peoples and commit to listening, learning, and working together toward equity and healing.

🧡 We invite our community to join us in reflection today:

- Wear orange to show your support

- Take time to learn about the history and legacy of residential schools

- Listen to Indigenous voices and stories

- Reflect on how we can all contribute to reconciliation

Together, we can honour the past, acknowledge the present, and build a better future.

💗 Pink Shirt Day 2025 💗

Today we stand together against bullying and lift each other up with kindness, compassion, and respect. At the Sudbury District Nurse Practitioner Clinics, we believe that every patient, family, and team member deserves to feel safe, valued, and supported.

By wearing pink, we are showing our commitment to creating a culture of inclusion, empathy, and care—both in our clinics and in our community. 🌸

Let’s keep the conversation going:
✅ Speak up against bullying
✅ Practice kindness every day
✅ Support those who need it most

Together, we can make a difference. 💕

Did you know that Vitamin D plays a key role in keeping your bones, immune system, and mood healthy?
Many Canadians—especially in the fall and winter months—aren’t getting enough.

💡 Why it matters:

Supports strong bones & teeth 🦴

Helps your immune system fight off illness 🛡️

Can improve mood and help reduce “winter blues” 🌼

How to get Vitamin D:

Sunlight: Just 10–15 minutes a few times a week in the summer may help.

Food sources: Fatty fish (salmon, mackerel), egg yolks, fortified milk or plant-based drinks.

Supplements: Often recommended in fall/winter—especially for older adults, people with limited sun exposure, or those at higher risk of deficiency.

📌 Tip from your NP-led clinic: Health Canada recommends most adults take a Vitamin D supplement during the fall and winter months. Talk to your nurse practitioner about the right amount for you.

About SDNPC

NP-led clinics provide comprehensive primary care with a team approach. Each patient is registered to the clinic and sees their NP for the majority of their health care needs. Physicians are part of the team and available on site to collaborate on more complex care issues. Our team is also comprised of Pharmacists, Registered Nurse’s, Registered Practical Nurse, Social Worker’s, and a Dietitian. Orphan patients live in fear of ending up in the hospital, or even becoming an Alternate Level of Care statistic, by nature of the sporadic care they receive at walk-in clinics and overcrowded Emergency Departments. NP-led clinics are part of the solution to Ontario's growing primary health care challenge.
