It’s not quite (Vermut Hour) here in Spain (usually around 1pm before lunch) but I like starting my night of tapas or pinchos with a vermouth to get my palate and tummy ready for the night ahead. A perfect aperitivo!

When you’re at for pinchos on Fridays, you can feel like you’re sipping with me - ask the staff which vermouth I’m loving lately!

We charge by the ounce so you can try a few!

Looking to rent a home or apartment?

There is a big scam happening out there so please beware!

As many of you know, I have a small rental house here in Sudbury that we rent on AirBnB, VRBO and our own website.

It turns out that scammers have been taking the photos from AirBnB along with a handful of details (much of what they use is incorrect) and they are posting on various websites that it’s for long term rent.

Eager renters go through the application process and then are pressured to put a deposit down to hold the place - before they even have seen it in person.

By that time, the ad has been pulled down and the scammers disappear. The ad gets posted elsewhere and they start all over again.

A couple of notes to keep in mind…

1. The description that they are using do not match the property itself. (usually embellished.) They also changed our actual address to the more obscure “regional road” one so it would be less likely to turn up in a search.

2. They have supporting documents ready to go. One smart lady, asked to see proof that they were the owners of the place, and the scammers provided forged mortgage documents showing that they indeed owned the property.

3. It’s working as a scam because people
don’t always report it - usually out of embarrassment.

4. Here are some websites where the listing has appeared over the last few months (NOT saying the websites are to blame though!) :

- padmapper.ca
- real estate.mitula.ca
-zumprentals.com
- QDB.ca

We are now in contact with local police about this so if you hear of anyone else in the Greater Sudbury who is going through the same thing and needs the contact info to report, send me a DM.

Hoping that the more everyone knows about the scam, the less people get taken by it - or even better, the scammers get caught and shut down for good.

Second last night of our holiday and we are finally telling each we are relaxing. (It takes is at least one week in before we unwind.)

… but then… we start talking about business.

Our bill was closed and bellies full.
