After 25 years of dedicated service, we proudly recognize the retirement of Sheila Crighton, a remarkable professional whose passion and advocacy have left an enduring impact on our community.
Throughout her career at the Sudbury Counselling Centre, Sheila served as a committed and compassionate employee, bringing integrity, insight, and care to every role she held. As a psychotherapist, Sheila skillfully blended clinical expertise with creativity, offering deeply meaningful and healing support to those she served.
A true pioneer within the violence against women community, Sheila played a vital role in advancing awareness, shaping survivor-centred practices, and strengthening systems of support. Her work was firmly grounded in feminist principles, reflecting a lifelong commitment to equality, justice, and the safety of women.
Sheila has been a tireless advocate and a trusted voice—one who led with empathy, courage, and conviction. Her contributions have not only improved individual lives, but have also helped build safer, more compassionate communities and inspired colleagues and future practitioners alike.
