We’re kicking off Staff Appreciation Week tomorrow!

We are so incredibly grateful for the hard work, dedication, and heart our team brings every single day. To celebrate, the CHEER team put together a week full of fun themes and treats:

• Monday: Nacho Average Monday 🧀
• Tuesday: Twin Day — Grab a work bestie and coordinate! 👯
• Wednesday: Education Day with Cake & Coffee ☕️🍰
• Thursday: Throwback Thursday — Rock your best 80s or 90s look! 📼

We are pleased to introduce Mary Deschene, Interim Executive Director, as this month’s featured leader.

Mary joined the Extendicare York community as Interim Executive Director last February. She brings extensive experience from a similar Home in Sault Ste. Marie, along with valuable insight from supporting one of Northern Ontario’s only other Convalescent Care Programs. Her background reflects a strong commitment to person-centered care, teamwork, and community connection.

As we continue with our 2026 Quality Improvement Plan, this month’s Meet the Leaders series highlights Lisa Cousineau, Registered Social Worker. Lisa joined our Home two years ago and brings a strong academic background in Indigenous Studies from Laurentian University, paired with a deep commitment to person‑centered care.

Lisa’s approach is rooted in compassion, respect, and meaningful connection. She works closely with residents and families to ensure their voices are heard and their unique needs supported. Her dedication to holistic, person‑focused practices continues to make a positive impact throughout our Home.

We are proud to highlight Lisa’s leadership and the important role she plays in supporting our residents, families, and team 💙

As part of our 2026 Quality Improvement Plan, and in collaboration with our Resident Council, Family Council, and Leadership and Support Teams, we are excited to introduce a new monthly feature: Meet the Leader.

Each month, we will spotlight a member of our leadership team to help residents and families get to know the people who guide and support the Home. These profiles will be shared in our family newsletter, on our page, and posted in the Main Foyer by the Home’s Quality Board, where you can also find an up-to-date list of our Leadership Team members, contact information for each leader, and our current Organizational Chart.
