Job Description
Total Nursing Care Inc., a trusted provider of occupational testing services in Sudbury for over 30 years, is seeking a reliable and motivated Drug and Alcohol Collector to join our team. This is a regular part-time position with the potential for a permanent full-time role, with a target start date in early to mid-October 2025. The successful candidate will perform a variety of drug and alcohol collection services, including U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and Canadian non-DOT testing. This role primarily involves scheduled shifts, with occasional on-call responsibilities required to cover emergency or unexpected needs during evenings or weekends.
Responsibilities
Perform collections during regular scheduled shifts at our Sudbury facility and client sites.
Be available for occasional, non-mandatory on-call shifts to perform urgent mobile or emergency collections as needed.
Accurately conduct urine specimen collections, breath alcohol testing (BAT), and other relevant testing methods following strict chain-of-custody procedures.
Ensure all collections adhere to both U.S. DOT Part 40 regulations and Canadian Model best practices.
Complete all necessary paperwork, including Custody and Control Forms (CCFs), and prepare specimens for lab shipment.
Explain testing procedures to donors and ensure confidentiality is maintained.
Manage collection kits and supplies.
Communicate effectively with employers, donors, and third-party administrators (TPAs).
Demonstrate strong performance in the part-time role to be considered for an eventual full-time position.
Qualifications
Certification preferred: Priority will be given to candidates who already hold valid certification as a Certified DOT Specimen Collector (CDSC) and a Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT) from a recognized Canadian provider like the Drug and Alcohol Testing Association of Canada (DATAC).
Willingness to train: For the right candidate, we are willing to provide and cover the cost of comprehensive training and certification.
Transferable skills encouraged: We welcome applications from individuals with transferable skills from roles such as Personal Support Workers (PSWs), caregivers, or other service positions.

Ability to work independently during both scheduled shifts and occasional on-call periods.
Valid Ontario driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are required for mobile testing.
Must be able to pass a criminal record check and mandatory pre-employment testing.
