Family doesn’t have to look one way… it doesn’t have to follow tradition.

For me, family is something you build intentionally. It’s creating a life full of connection, love, and meaning.

Family means having people around you who genuinely want the best for you — and you for them.

It’s unconditional love and understanding. Showing up in both big moments and quiet ones.

It’s doing the little things that make your people feel seen, heard, and appreciated.

It’s honesty, care, thoughtfulness…. it’s balance, commitment, and being there without being asked.

Family is reciprocal respect.
It’s selflessness.
It’s knowing that no matter what life throws your way, your people are there at the end of it.

It’s being able to text, call, send funny memes, or sit in complete silence — and still feel completely connected.

It’s having hard conversations without fear of losing each other.
Celebrating wins without comparison.
Showing up in both the good and the hard, without wavering.

It’s my friends’ kids calling me Zia Brie and Auntie Z, loving me like family long before they’ll ever understand that we aren’t “actually” related.

Family isn’t defined by DNA. It’s defined by presence, consistency, and love.

They choose you.
And you choose them.
That’s family.

I never thought I’d see the day where people ask me for running advice… but what a feeling! I’m up to 4 races and here’s some of my best pieces of advice:

🏃‍♀️ Balance matters.
My training always includes a mix of:
• Cardio (obviously 😅)
• Strength training to stay injury-resistant
• Stretching + mobility so my body actually cooperates and stays limber

🥗 Proper nutrition is KEY.
Fuel your body. Stay hydrated. Replenish your electrolytes.
You can’t out-train poor nutrition — especially when you’re logging miles.

🧠 Recovery is non-negotiable.
Foam rolling, rest days, and treatment with an RMT made all the difference. You don’t get stronger by ONLY grinding — you get stronger by knowing your body better.

🚶‍♀️ And if you need to walk… WALK.
No shame. No guilt. No comparisons. My goal every single race? Finish.

🩹 Stay protected. Use the right gear for YOUR body.

Chafing will humble you real quick — plan ahead.

I was at a client’s today and she said “OMG I love your nail colour!” and I couldn’t wait to tell her “They’re press-ons!” 😏

A few months ago I decided to try doing my nails at home. As much as I love going to the salon, it was becoming more of a burden than a self-care ritual. Between the occasional chipping and 1+ hour sitting in the chair, plus the $60+ every few weeks, I figured it was worth a shot!

I bought a shellac kit with 60 nail colours for $45 (🤯) and then a few press-on kits with glue for another $40… let’s just say… BEST MONEY I EVER SPENT! Since I started doing my own nails, I’ve saved $300 in 4 months!!!

Not only am I saving a TON of money, but I got my time back… and I enjoy it! I did the set I currently have on for my birthday in 15 minutes! We’re a week in and they’re solid… no chipping or breakage in sight 🎉 I’ve done new sets in the car, on the couch, at my desk… such a game changer!

Homemade Ginger Shots for Immunity (Easy Weekly Recipe!) ✨

It’s cold and flu season and who has time to be taken out by a bug 🦠 If you’ve been asking for the ginger shot recipe I’ve been making lately — here it is 👇

This ginger turmeric lemon shot is packed with ingredients known for supporting immune health, digestion, and inflammation — and you can prep it once and enjoy it all week.

🍋 2 Lemon
🍊 2 Small Orange
💧 4 Ounces Water
🥕 2 Ounces Turmeric
🧂 ¼ Teaspoon Black Pepper
🫚 8 Ounces Ginger

How to make:
1. Wash fruit (I keep the peels on - more nutrients that way)
2. Slowly add in all ingredients into either a blender or food processor (I used a juicer attachment on a KitchenAid stand mixer - I rotated between ingredients to get the most balanced blend in the bottle)
3. If using a blender or food processor, pour the contents into a strainer basket or bag over a bowl or a French press (more than just for coffee 😉)
4. Let your basket drain, squeeze the juice out of your bag, or slowly press down your French press
5. Put into the fridge for the week (store in a sealed bottle or container) 

Makes 7 servings for the week.

Rather than resolutions, I’ve been choosing defining words for how I want my year ahead to progress. My word for 2026 is QUALITY!

I want to spend quality time, with quality people, in quality places 🌎 So much has changed for me in the last few years and this year will be no exception!

The bar has been set by the last 35 years and I won’t be lowering it anytime soon! There’s are some MAJOR changes coming for this year and I can’t wait to write this next chapter!

Ran 21km, then ate at 30 countries 🍷🥨

Better late than never… our Wine & Dine Marathon was followed up by a post race party at Epcot after the park closed! Highly recommend exploring Disney Parks with 1000 of your closest friends 😂 Loved that everyone was limping alongside us!

Minimal training. Maximum determination ✅

Despite work being busier than ever and life’s road bumps getting in the way, I knew there was no other option than to cross that finish line. Each race I learn more and more about the art of running and about myself!

I said after this race I would take a break, but the second I crossed that finish line I knew I had more in me 💕 Let the search begin for half marathon 5!

From Carbivore to Keto

My health and wellness journey started in January of 2017 when I knew it was time for a change. Being uncomfortable in my own skin and unhappy with the way I looked and felt were trigger for me to find a way to turn my life around. After realizing the typical, low calorie/ low fat diets never worked for me, I decided to research alternatives... that’s when I found the Ketogenic Diet. Concentrating on a low carb, high fat approach I was intrigued by this “backwards” way of thinking. Having continued my research, I realized that this way of life may actually work for me. Fast forward a year and half later, with hard work, dedication, and a newfound outlook on life, I have shed 80 lbs and gained confidence, happiness, and clarity in all facets of life. Follow along my journey as I continue to strive for further results with creative recipes, maintaining an active lifestyle, and living my every day normal life.
