New Team, Same Values | Physician Spotlight Series- Introducing Dr. Jenny Thomas

As I was dreaming about the concept of NEOMO Medical and what it could become, I thought not only about the kind of patient care we hoped to deliver, but also about the kind of physicians who would stand beside us. I imagined team members who embodied compassion, integrity, and a deep understanding of what community truly means.

Today, it is my privilege to introduce you to one of those physicians — Dr. Jenny Thomas.

Over the years, I have been blessed with incredible colleagues who have helped build the foundation of NEOMO Medical. You’ll meet many of them in our upcoming Physician Spotlight Series. But what has been equally special is welcoming the next generation of physicians who will carry this vision forward as some of our more senior team members transition into new phases of their careers.

Dr. Thomas is one of these remarkable next-generation leaders.

When you read her story — a story shaped by resilience, adversity, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to purpose — you will see how like attracts like. Many physicians carry personal histories of struggle, sacrifice, and grit. What distinguishes the very best is how they transform those experiences into a deeper capacity for empathy, understanding, and exceptional patient care.

Dr. Thomas brings exactly that.

Her journey into medicine reflects strength, humility, and the kind of character that elevates an entire team. Dr. Alexia Presello – Physician Spotlight

Celebrating 5 years with NEOMO Medical!

The NEOMO Medical Team Spotlight highlights the talent, dedication, and diverse expertise across our clinical and administrative teams. We’re proud to begin with Dr. Alexia Presello, whose passion for patient-centred care and strong roots in our community reflect core values of NEOMO Medical.

From Dr. Alexia Presello to you, the NEOMO Medical family:

I was born and raised in Sudbury and completed my medical education at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM). From my very first placement at NEOMO in medical school, I felt a strong sense of belonging and knew I wanted to be part of this team. I returned for several placements during my medical school and residency and officially joined NEOMO Medical as a physician in 2020.

Before studying medicine, I earned a degree in Biomedical Science, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Laurentian University, and a master’s degree in Clinical Nutrition from the Université de Montréal. I also worked as a registered nurse with additional training in breastfeeding support, which strengthened my interest in maternal and child health and preventive care.

The one thing I love most about family medicine is the opportunity to build long-term relationships with patients and their families. Being part of their care through different stages of life—celebrating milestones, offering support during challenges, and fostering continuity—makes this field truly rewarding.

My special interests include caring for children, supporting breastfeeding and women’s health, and managing chronic diseases with a holistic and preventive approach. In addition to my family practice at NEOMO Medical, I provide care at St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre and for a unit at St. Gabriel’s Villa, teach at the medical school, and I am involved in occupational medicine and cosmetic injections.

I speak English, French, and Spanish fluently, and have conversational proficiency in Italian and Portuguese. I value connecting with patients in their preferred language and providing care that is compassionate, inclusive, and community-focused.

I am deeply grateful and honoured to receive a Patient-Nominated Certificate of Recognition (2025–2026) from the Ontario College of Family Physicians. This recognition is especially meaningful because it comes from my patients—thank you for your trust and kindness. I am also incredibly thankful for my amazing colleagues and the entire NEOMO team, who make providing compassionate, community-based care such a joy every day.

We’re delighted to introduce Dr. Sepideh Fardanian, MD, the newest member of our physician team who joined us this spring.

Dr. Fardanian brings over 15 years of primary care experience and 6 years in cosmetic medicine, with a practice built on compassion, careful assessment, and genuine connection. Her approach is deeply patient-centered—focusing on continuity, accessibility, and shared decision-making to help patients stay healthy and confident at every stage of life.

Her clinical interests span preventive health, chronic disease management, skin and mental health, and non-surgical cosmetic treatments designed to enhance natural features safely and realistically.

Now calling Sudbury home, Dr. Fardanian has embraced the community and looks forward to contributing through both her medical practice and local volunteer work. Please join us in giving her a warm welcome to the NEOMO team! 💙

We’re pleased to introduce Dr. Naureen Hamidani, MD, ND, who will officially join our NEOMO team on December 1.

Dr. Hamidani will be taking over care for a portion of Dr. Dhatt’s patient roster as part of our gradual transition plan. Patients being transferred will receive an email in the coming weeks — and rest assured, you’ll continue to be in excellent hands.
Dr. Dhatt will remain involved to support the transition over the next year.

Originally from Oakville, Ontario, Dr. Hamidani completed her residency with NOSM University – Sudbury and quickly fell in love with Northern Ontario’s community spirit and natural beauty, making it her permanent home.

Blending her background in naturopathic medicine with evidence-based family practice, Dr. Hamidani brings a holistic, patient-centered approach to care.

Her clinical interests include:
✨ Women’s health — from fertility and pregnancy through post-menopausal wellness
✨ Men’s health and diabetic care
✨ Skincare and pro-age medicine
✨ Chronic pain and newborn care

Dr. Ashraf is a compassionate physician with over 17 years of clinical experience. She originally trained and practiced as a pediatrician in Iran and recently transitioned to family practice here in Sudbury, where she continues to serve patients of all ages.

She is known for her thorough clinical judgment, empathetic communication, and commitment to continuity of care — qualities that perfectly reflect the Neomo philosophy of patient-centered medicine.
