We are so excited to announce that Homa has successfully completed her MACP program, and she has joined our clinic as a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)!

✨We are a psychotherapy practice dedicated to supporting adolescents and adults as they navigate life’s challenges. Whether you’re experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, or identity-related concerns, we provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your emotions and experiences with authenticity and self-compassion.

✨Our approach is client-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive, with a special focus on individuals from immigrant and diaspora communities, as well as neurodivergent individuals, including those with ADHD. We integrate various evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), mindfulness, and more—tailoring each session to your unique needs.

Gratitude has been known to boost mood, reduce stress, and increase life satisfaction. So what better day to set a reminder about incorporating gratitude into your daily routine than Thanksgiving (for my Canadians)?
The amazing part about gratitude practice is how easily it can be incorporated into your day.

🦃 Keeping a gratitude journal doesn’t have to be complicated or fancy. If you’re having trouble, start by writing one thing you’re grateful for each day. Try and write something different each day. It could also be something you did well, or are proud of, or made you laugh.

🦃 When you go for a walk, try and notice things you might not walk past. Take in the sights, sounds, and smells around you. Is there anything to be grateful for around? Maybe it’s the beauty of the nature around, or your body for carrying you through your walk.

🦃 Try talking to someone about what you’re grateful for, and mindfully listen to what the other person is grateful for. Does this give you another perspective to life?

We are so excited to announce a new member to the ASF Counselling team, Homa!

Homa is currently completing her Master’s of Counselling Psychology program and will be joining us as a Student Therapist starting in September.

Homa brings a wealth of knowledge through both her education and previous experiences. Her areas of interest include supporting individuals facing difficult life situations and transitions, addressing issues related to marginalization, and managing stress, anxiety, and depression.

Homa will be offering virtual services, and is accepting new clients for September, with affordable and low cost counselling rates available.

Anger isn’t always negative; it can be a powerful catalyst for change and self-assertion. It highlights injustices, motivates action, and drives personal growth. When channeled constructively, anger can lead to resolution and empowerment, helping individuals address issues and advocate for necessary transformations in their lives and communities.

Anger becomes unhealthy when it leads to aggression, destructiveness, or unresolved conflict. It undermines relationships and mental well-being, especially if it’s frequent, intense, or misdirected, causing more harm than good.
