Wonder if your periods are normal? They may not be.
Menstrual irregularities (irregular periods, dysmenorrhea (cramps), menorrhagia (heavy bleeding)) can stem from various root causes such as hormone (PCOS, perimenopause, endometriosis) and thyroid imbalances. I relocated to a new city 🏙️, moved my practice to the KW area, became assistant director of a clinic and also covered as acting director for a month. Halloween is a day full of treats and sweets, but balancing our blood sugar doesn’t have to be tricky! Here are some tips to enjoy your candy and stay on top of your health:

1️⃣ Pair with Protein: Have a handful of nuts or some cheese with your candy. Protein can help keep blood sugar levels more stable.

2️⃣ Pick Your Favorites: Enjoy a few pieces of your absolute faves, and savor each bite. Quality over quantity!

3️⃣ Stay Hydrated: Water helps your body process sugar better, so keep a bottle nearby!

4️⃣ Move Around: A short walk can help regulate blood sugar and boost your mood too.

[Happy Thanksgiving] 🧡🍁🦃
What I love most about this tradition is the context of what is behind it.
In Chinese medicine, the fall/autumn is a time to appreciate and be grateful for the "harvest" of the year. Going from the higher energy of the summer to a slower, more restful pace that honours our natural rhythms along with those in nature. Along with that, antibacterial herbs such as thyme, oregano and garlic are infused into Turkeys, and the immune-boosting effects of Vitamin A in pumpkin and squash soup are used. Not to mention the warming and anti-inflammatory effects of cinnamon and ginger. I love to talk about the integration of cultural traditions/shifts in nature in my practice and how they can help optimize our health and well-being. The blend of creativity/art with health and medicine is something that I am passionate about.

[NEW on the Blog - Allergies] 🤧 🌼 It's allergy season and if you have started experiencing a runny nose and itchy eyes than you are not alone. Standard treatments involve the use of antihistamine medications, but there are ways that you can naturally improve your allergy symptoms this season.

- Antioxidants. Eat more fruit, especially berries 🫐🍓. This will help to lower inflammation caused by allergies. Not to mention it is a good source of Vitamin C which is a type of antioxidant
- Balance the immune system. 🩸Have you had your vitamin D levels checked before? If not you may want to consider doing so as low levels have been associated with more allergic states
- Gut health. Probiotics have quite a bit of research behind them now in balancing the immune system in allergies and other conditions like eczema and asthma. You can also incorporate more fermented foods such as yogurt, sauerkraut and kimchi
- Lower stress and ensure you are sleeping well. This ensures that your cortisol (stress) levels are more in balance

Over the winter and past few months I’ve gained new followers and also new clients and wanted to re-introduce myself. 👋⁣
I’m Dr. Kaitlyn Zorn ND, naturopathic doctor - hormone balancer, anxiety/mood and burnout healer 🙏. ⁣
I’ve been in practice since 2016. After graduating naturopathic college I was called to do my own self-healing to recover from stress-related ailments from being in rigorous schooling for 8 years. I was not in tune with my body’s internal cues and going through this allowed me to reconnect with myself in a way that honoured my own body’s innate ability to heal. This has led to me to further develop my passion 💜working with hormones/thyroid, anxiety/depression, burnout and anything worsened by stress (IBS, migraines, chronic pain). ⁣

Kaitlyn believes that whatever obstacles you are facing, there is space for you to discover what is meaningful to you in your life. Kaitlyn wants you to feel vital in your mind and body, and will create an individualized treatment plan including lifestyle counselling, nutrition, herbal & chinese medicine, and homeopathic approaches. Self-care and mindfulness is also a large part of Kaitlyn’s treatment approach, and she will provide you with strategies that fit within your life.

If you are struggling with a health concern and finding it difficult get into the office or make frequent appointments, Kaitlyn would love to speak with you from the comfort of your home or workplace in the form of Telephone or Email Consults.
