Some info on retained primitive reflexes.

- what are they?
- what are some signs that you (or your child / children) may have one or more retained primitive reflexes

I work with these in my practice.

Have questions? Shoot me a DM or drop a comment below so we can chat.

(And excuse the messy hair, I just came from tap class, and know myself well enough to record when the flow is there 😜)

People don’t change.

A) True
B) False
C) Both true and false

I would choose option C.

Because although there are parts of us that don’t change, and there are parts of us that do change (without our conscious awareness), we CAN choose with conscious awareness to change aspects of our habits, our reactivities, and our ways of being that aren’t working well for us.

NeuroEmotional Technique is one way to do this - and a powerful way. I watch people consciously change all the time. It’s pretty amazing 🤩

I think I would change the sentence from “people don’t change” to “people can change, but not all choose to do so”.

What do you think?

This feels vulnerable, but also an important step for me, for my own personal growth and refinding and reclaiming my voice.

Going forward, I’ll still post about birth, and pre- and peri-natal psychology, about dance, and probably maybe cats, because all of these things spark my heart and soul.

And I also plan to post about chiropractic again, because to be honest, it’s pretty awesome, and I feel so blessed to do something every day I love, and serve wonderful amazing people.

As always, what I say and share in the now and in any posts that follow, I do so with the intention of promoting health, love and growth (all of these are part of my core values). So (unless it’s sky diving without a parachute), feel the fear and do it anyway.

Thoughts of an NET practitioner:

Very often people feel alone in the struggles and challenges- they feel like they’re “weird”, or it’s “easier for other people”

The truth is, we all have challenges and struggles (even the person who doesn’t appear to!)

Although the behaviours and outward challenges in our struggles certainly can be very different person to person, when you cut through it all and dive to the core, many of us are struggling with the same themes.

Themes of worth, of feeling (un)heard, (under/un)valued, (un)loved or (un)loveable, of feeling powerful / helpless, of feeling out of control, (un)safe, of being enough / not enough.

But these challenges aren’t the TRUTH. And they don’t need to define you or limit you or prescribe your experiences.

The TRUTH of YOU is waiting there for you to find it, remember it, reclaim it, own it and embody it.

NeuroEmotional Technique is one way- often a very effective and efficient way to help you do this.

Reach out if you’re curious and would like some support.

(And if I’m a million miles away from you, and you’re not interested in zoom, or you don’t resonate with me, go to netmindbody.com to see who is geographically close to you.)

Ps- In an act of digital rebellion, I broke the algorithm rules with a reel that is over 3 mins long (couldn’t censor my heart IG- sorry, not sorry! 🤣), so IG won’t share it with new audiences. If there’s someone you know who can benefit from hearing this, and is patient enough to hang on for four minutes (😜), please share 🙏. Together, we grow and heal and move forward with more freedom 💗

8 years ago today, after about a billion exams, and with a 13 month old son, I officially became “Dr. Alyssa Shepherd, DC” 🙌

The journey to get to that point didn’t look at all like what I thought it would when I entered chiropractic college.

And some parts of my journey since that day have been different to what I had imagined too - from practicing in Cvid, to moving office locations 5 times in 8 years, to juggling a clinical practice and single parenting, there have been learning curves I hadn’t imagined.

But the thing is : I SO LOVE WHAT I DO!!! 💖🧠🔥

Every day is new. Every patient interaction is different. There’s always something new and amazing to learn. 🤩🥰

The advice I give my children about “what they do when they grow up” is to find something they love and then find a way to be paid for doing it. Then work becomes play, and days are fun and fulfilling.

I am so grateful to be able to do what I do - for all the help along the way, the friends, family, teachers, mentors.
And to all the people who have trusted me to help support them, their Baby / child, their family in their unique healing journey 💕
