The RVT Journal editorial staff needs your expertise!!

We are seeking an experienced RVT who is confident in their knowledge of up-to-date veterinary medical practices. This RVT will be able to offer germane, relevant feedback on the Journal’s CE articles, and will have the critical skills to read articles for veracity and applicability of the content. They will advise the technical editor of any suggestions to clarify or improve the information included in the articles. Please note that we have a technical editor who oversees style and structure.

Our ideal candidate is still actively involved in clinical practice, with at least five years’ experience.

Peer reviewers earn Category 2 credits for their participation, and are still welcome to read the final versions of the article and take the quizzes for Category 1 credits.

Interested RVTs can send an email to Laurie Williams, CE & One Health Manager, at laurie@oavt.org.

🌸You’re invited to a special webinar🌸

To mark Mental Health Week in Canada (May 4-10) we’re giving our members the opportunity to hear some impactful stories from those who have been touched by mental health struggles, and focus on supports that are available.

As your professional association, we’re committed to supporting our members in a variety of ways. We recognize that mental health challenges continue to take a toll within veterinary medicine, and the stigma surrounding that persists. We want to open up discussions around common issues like emotional fatigue, demanding workloads, and feeling undervalued.

Click the link below to join us for this inspiring conversation led by Veterinary Social Worker, Angie Arora, taking place on May 6th at 7 p.m.

🚨Survey participants wanted! 🚨

Every day, veterinary professionals make critical decisions that protect the health of animals, their owners and wider society, yet much of this expertise goes unseen.

Boehringer Ingelheim is planning a global awareness campaign to help shine a light on important aspects of veterinary work that are overlooked and deserve more recognition. The campaign is intended to help elevate the understanding of veterinary expertise among animal owners.

As part of this campaign, they are inviting veterinary professionals in Canada to complete a short survey (approx. three minutes) to help identify the top overlooked veterinary insights. Your input will help generate credible, evidence-based insights that showcase the real value of your work and strengthen understanding and trust in veterinary care.

Veterinary professionals can take the survey by clicking the link below. It will remain open until Friday, April 24.

Okay, members, last week we were in fourth place, and now we're in fifth.

ICYMI: We're in the middle of a friendly competition with Canada's other six veterinary technologist/technician associations to see which association can have the highest proportion of members complete the new compensation survey.

This survey, by Finley and Associates, will give us a more fulsome picture of how RVTs are compensated across Canada and help you advocate for better pay and benefits. But that data is only as good as the number of participants. We need ALL of you to fill out your surveys.

Didn't get one? Send us a DM, and we'll put you in touch with Finley and Associates to make sure you do.

Already filled out a survey? Share this post, reach out to your fellow RVTs, and spread the word anyway you can. Let's get to 100% participation!

You only have until March 28 to fill out the survey! Let's go OAVT!
