Discomfort doesn’t necessarily mean something is wrong.
This is true in childbirth.
This is true in brave conversations.
This is true in doing anything differently.
This is true in building, growing, or grieving something you care about.
This is true in expanding our identity.
This is true when the Holy Spirit is preparing us for our upcoming assignment.
We’ve passed through some wild years. I lost my voice and my confidence for a while. It frightened me to the core. But I knew I was on the way back when I found myself celebrating standing in the discomfort of growing, discerning a new path, choosing between staying the same and seemingly keeping everyone happy or risking tending to my own business and responding in humility and trust to what I believe I’m being called up to, and just taking the next step.
As we say in skiing, “C’est bon!”
