Breaking tasks into small, manageable steps supports executive function and reduces overwhelm.

When we look at a whole platter of nachos, it can be overwelming. Where do we start? How do we get in there without touching all the nachos? without getting stuff all over our hands?

Usually, we would cut some of the nachos off from the platter and put them on a plate. But we still can’t eat them as a whole plate! We then need to pick up only one nacho at a time - a ‘Bite’ of nachos.

The same is true of jobs or tasks that we have to do. Some jobs are platter jobs - projects with many steps, that can take many days. Some jobs are plate jobs -- enough work for one sitting. And little jobs are bite-sized tasks - 1 thing to focus on at a time..
