We're so grateful for Rebecca Adam, Zac Sutherland and the team at for nominating The Nightingale Centre for 's Better Communities program. Today, we joined them and Samantha Cooper from Intact to receive a cheque for $10,000 through this incredible program.

These funds will go on to help support thousands of grieving children, youth and families as we work to fulfill our vision of a community where no child or family grieves alone. It is truly people and organizations like these that inspire and allow us to continue this important work. Thank you, thank you, thank you! 🤍

Last week, we gathered with 8 volunteers to assemble our grief kits—assembling 100 children's kits, 50 youth kits and 75 professional kits to be distributed to those who are grieving in our community.🤍

After collecting and counting all of the crafty hugs that came from far and wide, our hearts are bursting with gratitude and love. We know that this love will also be felt by the children, teens and families who receive the hugs through our kits.

In total, we were sent 320 pocket hugs, 42 scarf hugs, 6 angels and a beautiful assortment of other stuffy friends, none of which would have been possible without the help of this community!

It's never too late to send in your creations as we will continue to make more kits from the additional crafts we receive. For more information, visit the link below.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

UPDATE🪡✨

A few weeks ago, we put a call-out to the Crafters in our community, and the abundance of HUGS we have received from Guelph and beyond is filling our hearts with so much gratitude! We even have one crafter sending items from Iroquois!

These craft items will eventually help us create 200 grief kits to be distributed in our schools and libraries. Currently, we have 20 hug scarves and 50 pocket hugs. If you knit or crochet, we would love to have your support in helping make a difference in the lives of grieving children and youth—or help by spreading the word to your friends!

Volunteers will be assembling our grief kits on August 20 so that they are ready for delivery to kids and schools in September.
