Earlier this week we were honoured to be mentioned in the House of Commons with meaningful recognition of 10 Shelldale and the impact of Permanent Supportive Housing. 🏡

This recognition underscores that sustained advocacy saves lives. The right level of intervention, at the right time brings stability, dignity, and hope. 🧡

In 10 Shelldale’s first year of service:
• No one passed from drug poisoning.
• No one was evicted.
• No one left the program.
• Police and hospital emergency contacts dropped drastically.

These outcomes show that wrap‑around, person‑centered care is a proven solution to the housing and drug poisoning crisis.

Thank you to our partners Kindle Communities and the Guelph Community Health Centre for working hand‑in‑hand with us to provide comprehensive supports.

Our CEO, Melissa, attended the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness 2025 National Conference this week in Montreal.

It was great to learn alongside a strong contingent of partners from across the health and housing sectors in Guelph and Wellington, who all came together to show our collective commitment to change.

Addressing the increasing challenges faced by unhoused community members is a shared responsibility that requires collective action. Using innovative strategies, policy changes, and advocacy, we can solve the problems we are facing and ensure everyone has access to the care and support they need.

Health isn't just about medicine. Our social prescribing program has a big impact on clients' mental and overall health. Enjoy!

For World Mental Health Day, observed tomorrow October 10th, we visited Guelph Community Health Centre. We spoke with the CEO, Melissa Kiatkowski as well as two peer leader volunteers and the entire social prescribing team to discuss how the CHC's various social prescribing programs impact the mental health of clients, peer leaders and staff.

Attention, clients and community: Guelph CHC’s programs and services, including our downtown clinic and HART Hub, Shelldale clinic, Hive Health Services, The SEED, and EarlyON locations will be closed on Friday Oct 17 for a staff event.

Offsite Stay Sharp will operate 1-5pm.

We will return to regular hours on Monday, October 20.

Attention, clients and community: Guelph CHC’s programs and services, including our downtown clinic, Shelldale clinic, Hive Health Services, The SEED, and all EarlyON programs will be closed on Monday October 13 for the holiday.
Limited HART Hub services will be available 10am-3pm.
We will return to regular hours on Tuesday, October 14.
