Campus Safety Alert: Possible taxi fraud reported on campus involving a grey Mazda SUV with a taxi sign. The fraud involves two individuals, one acting as a taxi driver, the other is acting as a taxi patron asking those nearby to pay for their taxi ride with a card in exchange for cash. The ‘taxi operator’ will then take the credit card information.

If you see this vehicle or are approached to pay for a taxi ride with a credit card, do not engage. Call the Campus Safety Office at 519-840-5000.

Safety Tip of Week: Stay alert when cooking.

Only use cooking appliances when alert. If you're too tired, distracted, or under the influence, don't use your oven, stove, air fryer, etc.

Have pets? Include them in your emergency plan. Keep leashes or carriers by the door for easy access when evacuating, and prepare a go-bag with food and meds. Talk to others in your house to make sure they know the plan for the safety of your pet(s).

Join the Fire Prevention Division this Thursday, January 15th in the UC Courtyard to get hands on fire extinguisher training! Drop by for two minutes between 11:00 a.m. & 2:30 p.m. No prior fire safety knowledge needed to learn this great life skill.

Make sure you are attending your assigned class sections. Going to a different section can cause the class to be over occupancy which is a dangerous fire code violation for you, those scheduled in that class, and the remainder of the building.

If the room is over occupancy, professors will cancel the class.

If you can't see your fire hydrant because it's buried in snow, neither can the fire department. Make sure you keep fire hydrants clear from snow.
