Something really special is happening again this summer đź’›

The Guelph Yoga + Wellness Festival is back on August 30th, and we’re currently inviting a small number of aligned businesses to partner with us for the 2026 event.

This event brings together 250+ members of our community—primarily women who value health, wellness, and connection—for a full day of movement, mindfulness, and meaningful experiences.

Over the past 4 years, we’ve also raised $14,500 for Hospice Wellington through our community raffle, and we’re so excited to continue building on that impact this year.

✨ We’re looking to partner with:

* Local wellness businesses
* Women-focused brands
* Health practitioners
* Community-minded companies

If you own a business, work for a company, or know someone who would love to connect with this kind of audience, I would absolutely love to hear from you.

Send me a DM or email me at drkirstiegriffiths@gmail.com and I’ll share more details.
And if someone comes to mind right away—please tag them below or pass this along 💛

This event is truly built on community, and your support means so much.

*Limited sponsorship opportunities available*

The other day I was chatting with a patient who told me their foot hurt every time they got up off the floor. I asked if they had tried a different way of getting up so it didn’t trigger the pain. Their answer? “No… I’ve been stubborn.”

Because they kept moving the same way, they kept triggering the same pain… and growing more and more annoyed.

It made me think of something from my own life. After I had my daughter, my body shape changed. But for months, I kept trying to squeeze into my old university jean shorts. And every time I put them on, I instantly felt frustrated with myself. Eventually, I realized the problem wasn’t my body — it was that I was setting my body up for failure by trying to make it do something that didn’t work right now.

The solution? Buying a bigger pair of shorts that made me feel comfortable and let me move forward and enjoy life again.

Pain works the same way. Sometimes the best thing you can do is shift the way you’re moving, just for a while, to break the pain cycle. It doesn’t mean you’ll be stuck doing things differently forever — it just gives your body the chance it needs to heal.

✨ Sometimes the “easiest way” really is the smartest way.

A low rumble gives way to a deafening roar
A shockwave that sparks realization; that isn’t the sound of construction,

It’s a home performing a disappearing act.
An illusion; my eyes playing tricks on me until that void becomes a fireball, evidence that this is real.

Footsteps pounding pavement,
breath in my ears.

Time is a construct because it pauses in the space between the place where I started and the place where I end up. It must still be paused because we arrive and the world is still, save from our bodies and the blaze.

And that’s when we see him; amongst the wreckage and the devastation, we see him, and he, like us, is a body in motion.

It’s a race and the three of us are positioned at the starting line. But the pistol fires and only two people take off.

On the outside, I am the bystander.

The driver in me urges my body forward, commanding “there is a life to save,”

But I am anchored in place by the little voice inside of me that whispers “I am here too Mama. Please keep me safe.”

There is no choice without a cost.

And so we hold the line.

I am The Bystander, but not frozen from apathy.

The Bystander surveying the scene for signs of other bodies in motion.

The Bystander protecting a precious life not yet lived.

The Bystander staying rooted when everything in her wants to run toward.

Time resumes and the last of the flames are drowned out.

There are handshakes for heroes, and backs angled toward bystanders. Our version is quieter but we are the keepers of this part of the story.

We later learn that not all lives can be saved.

It feels like guilt, and it feels like failure, and it feels like humanity and it feels like care.

This is the tug-of-war of survival.

Emotional entanglement and a desperation to make meaning out of chaos.

Hypervigilance and a sea of tears and the deepest form of love and connection.

Healing hands on my belly and a little voice that whispers “Thank you. I’m still here mama. You were brave too.”

Dr. Griffiths’ undergraduate academic journey began at the University of Guelph where she majored in Biomedical Science. In her fourth year of the program, she completed research under Professor and Chiropractor Dr. John Srbely, investigating pain patterns in patients diagnosed with chronic pain. This led Dr. Griffiths to developing a particular interest in assessing and treating chronic pain. She went on to complete her Doctor of Chiropractic degree, graduating Summa Cum Laude from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College.

In 2016, Kirstie embarked on a one-month intensive Yoga Teacher Training program in Nicaragua where she acquired her 200-Hour level certification. She currently offers yoga classes publicly at the University of Guelph, Movati Athletic, and LOYOBO Fit. Dr. Griffiths offers a yoga therapy program for low back pain that combines education, movement, and meditation that is specific to back pain. These in-person programs are offered as a chiropractic service and are eligible for coverage through extended health benefits. This program is also available in an online format.
