Leslie Brown RMT Registered Massage Therapy - including pregnancy massage, sports therapy, deep tissue treatments, and relaxation massage

Leslie Brown's genuine passion to help people achieve optimum health lead her to a career in Massage Therapy. Graduating as one of the top students in her class from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in 2010, she has worked with clients of all ages, backgrounds and conditions, including athletes, pregnant women, seniors and children. In addition to her Massage Therapy diploma, Leslie has taken a course on Schweitzer Deep Tissue Therapy. This type of treatment focuses on deep tissue massage, optimizing the wellness of clients while minimizing the discomfort commonly associated with deep treatments. Massage therapy has been proven to reduce stress, increase relaxation, decrease pain, and treat a wide variety of conditions. Headaches, neck and back pain, limited range of motion, tendinitis, and foot dysfunction are all common conditions treated effectively by massage therapy. Leslie offers a variety of massage techniques designed to meet each client's individual needs (whether relaxation or therapeutic) to provide these results. Leslie's philosophy of care focuses on client education for treatment and prevention, while providing quality client care in a safe and comfortable environment. Fees:
Initial massage (15 minute assessment + 45 minute massage) - $90
90 minute massage - $135
75 minute massage - $120
60 minute massage - $95
45 minute massage - $80
30 minute massage - $60

Most extended health care plans will cover a percentage of massage therapy treatment.

Relaxation or Deep Tissue Massage?

Relaxation:
▫️A “relaxation” massage is known as a “Swedish” massage.
▫️Usually incorporate long sweeping strokes in addition to kneading or compression techniques and are often used on the entire body (back, legs, arms, and neck).
▫️Relaxation stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system (the system that slows your heart rate, decreases blood pressure, and aids in tissue repair).
▫️Swedish massage also increases the oxygen flow in the blood and aids the lymphatic system in getting rid of cellular waste products.
▫️This treatment is beneficial in times of stress and helps achieve overall health and well-being.

Deep Tissue:
▪️Is used to focus on deeper layers of muscle tissue.
▪️Deep tissue techniques include trigger point therapy (releasing hyperirritable spots in taut bands of muscle fibres), breaking up scar tissue from previous injuries, and myofascial release (loosening restrictions in connective tissue).
▪️You may feel some discomfort during the massage and/or the day after receiving the massage. If performed correctly, you will feel an increase in range of motion and relief in pain after a couple of days.
▪️This treatment is beneficial for those dealing with chronic pain or for a specific injury.

- Pregnancy can cause aches and pains as the body changes and the baby grows.

Massage therapy is a great way of relieving stress and soothing those tired, sore muscles and joints.

Chiropractic care while pregnant can help address and reduce tension in the spine and nervous system, and also maintain a state of balance in the pelvis.

Great article about pelvic health! As a RMT that treats many clients that are pregnant, I try to educate about postnatal health and conditions that may arise!

Pelvic floor issues are a common health problem, especially after childbirth, but patients and women's health advocates say not enough is being done to educate people.

We are gradually reopening our practices, prioritizing urgent needs first, so please reach out if you are experiencing pain and need to be seen as soon as possible. If you would like an appointment shortly, but can wait a couple weeks, please reach out and we will put you on our list accordingly!

If you do not feel comfortable receiving massage therapy at this time, we understand. Let us know if you have any questions or if we can help with self-care advice.

An update for anyone that has heard that massage therapists and other health professionals are resuming treatments:

The Ministry of Health has updated their directive to regulated health professionals for a gradual re-opening, limiting in-person appointments where possible, and prioritizing health care needs.

New policies, procedures, and PPE will be in place to help protect practitioners and clients. As always, your health and well-being are a top priority. More information to follow.

Thanks for your patience and understanding!
