Dear friends and colleagues. Wellington OECTA has been involved in Downtown meals since 2014. We have one last push to get the word out and sign our petition to ensure there is an indoor shelter dedicated to meals open every day.

The Ministry of Education has placed the Near North District School Board under provincial supervision, the first such move since Bill 33 passed.

Let’s be clear: the concerns in Near North stem from years of decisions made without listening to frontline education workers or community voices. That cannot be repeated under supervision.

The Ministry must take this lesson seriously and work with frontline workers and community members to rebuild trust, restore professional respect, and deliver the stability students deserve.
