We inherited a lot of fitness language that doesn’t belong everywhere.

“No pain, no gain” may work as motivation in some spaces — but yoga invites a different relationship.

Not laziness.
Not avoidance.
Awareness.

Sometimes the deepest progress happens when the body trusts the process enough to soften.

Your practice doesn’t need to hurt to be powerful.

It may be time to replace force with intelligence.

Also "If your yoga practice only feels good, you might be missing the point."

Sthira Sukham Asanam
(Yoga Sutra 2.46).

Sthira (स्थिर): translates to "steadiness," "stability," or "strength". This is the "effort" part of the practice—the discipline to hold a pose and meet challenges with focus.

Sukham (सुखम्): means "ease," "comfort," or "good space". This is the "feel-good" part of the practice—ensuring that even in effort, there is no aggression or strain.

True yoga exists in the union of these two. If you have only Sthira (effort), you become rigid and risk injury.
If you have only Sukha (ease), you may become stagnant or "zone out".

In Mysore, progress is earned quietly.
The lineage teaches through repetition

Some things can’t be rushed.
They can only be received.
Yoga was never meant to be consumed.
It was meant to be transmitted.
Mysore practice lives through paramparā — the quiet passing of knowledge from teacher to student, breath to breath, day by day.

Not through performance.
Not through comparison.
Through presence. Through repetition. Through trust.
Each adjustment, each inhale, each return to the mat becomes part of something older and wiser than trends.

This is the beauty of Mysore.
A personal practice held inside a living tradition.

If you’ve been craving depth instead of noise, this may be your path.

These days, it can feel like yoga is supposed to look a certain way—effortless poses, perfect lighting, calm faces, everything soft and beautiful. But that’s not the full story.

Real yoga can be messy. It can be uncomfortable. It can be frustrating and, yes, sometimes even painful. It asks you to show up and do the work, even when you don’t feel like it.

Retreats can be beautiful. They can be fun, inspiring, and give you space to breathe. But that’s not the whole of yoga. Yoga isn’t about escaping your life—it’s about learning how to live it.

It’s not about performing or pretending everything is peaceful. It’s not about putting on a mask of happiness. It’s about being honest with where you are and learning how to move through it.

The practice isn’t here to make things look perfect—it’s here to help you deal with real life.

DRISHTI, YOUR FOCUS POINT

Where is your focus point in life? What is the story you are telling yourself? Where are you taking your energy, your thoughts?

Your Drishti is important, and it's one of the Ashtanga yoga principles of practice.

In this world of multitasking and over information, your Drishti is a great tool to focus on the important (to you) stuff in life.
Being present at the moment is what we learn on the mat, and we learn to take it out to the "Real" world.

What is your Drishti?

Parthood is by far the hardest job in the world!!!!!
No matter what other job you have in life, if you are a yoga teacher, a cook, a welder, a social worker, a lawyer.
What ever it is, being a parent is the most challenging..
No spiritual twist or insight, just me holding space to how hard it is!
Happy family day to us parents, may we find peace in our unperfect parenting. Om!

In India there is a saying: "Same same but different" We may believe we are different, but we are very much the same.
We all have the same needs:

The need to be loved, to be valued, to feel significant, to feel safe and seen, to be a part of a community, to be healthy physically and mentally, to feel connection.
Ashtanga Yoga meets those needs for me and many others who practice it with dedication and love.

Ashtanga yoga is a path, its not the only path, there are others.
I am not the best Yoga teacher for everyone, but I am a Yoga teacher that can support you on this path.

We may look or feel different, and our needs may change with time, but Yoga teaches us to look and explore, to love and see the unity in all.

Classes in Gibsons will be starting next week, reach out to start your own path.
