Chinmayi Balusu is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Simply Neuroscience, a global non-profit organization dedicated to expanding interdisciplinary neuroscience and psychology education, outreach, and awareness for students. Chinmayi is involved with cognitive neuroscience and traumatic brain injury research, and she is passionate about amplifying the applications of neuroscience as a youth science communicator.

For her STEM and community impact efforts, Chinmayi has been recognized as the California Science and Engineering Fair's 2019 Student of the Year as well as a recipient of the Daily Point of Light Award, Multiplying Good One in a Million Award, and Presidential Volunteer Service Award recipient. In her free time, Chinmayi enjoys gardening, practicing taekwondo, exploring new music on Spotify, and watching Telugu movies with family. Introducing Dr Amalina Bakri who will be our opening speaker at Researchathon. Dr. Bakri is a Surgical Resident and a Clinical Research Fellow at the Institute of Global Health Innovation, Department of Surgery and Cancer, Imperial College London. Her topic of discussion will be the use of wearable technology to improve surgical outcomes in breast cancer patients, general surgery/breast cancer surgery. Register before July 1, 2021, for the virtual event!

Dr Bakri graduated as a medical doctor from Edinburgh Medical School. She also completed her Master's in Translational Medicine and Therapeutics from University of Cambridge during her foundation years. She is currently doing a PhD in surgical innovation and breast cancer using wearable activity monitors in order to improve patient outcomes, where her PhD project is funded by NIHR UK.��Aside from her academic and clinical work, Dr Bakri is a strong advocate for women empowerment and shares educational posts for public health education and medical teaching for medical students and junior doctors on social media with over 1 million followers across Instagram, Twitter and TikTok.
