Why am I posting this? A silly dancing video of myself that makes me cringe 😅

From my POV: baby was crying and needed to be held, but the wrap gets tricky as they get bigger, and it was way too close to bedtime to risk an accidental early sleep. So… out came the ridiculous dance moves and made-up song lyrics.

And you know what? It worked. Babe started bouncing and “singing” along.

I’m all-in on this work, which honestly feels more like a calling. Because how could you watch this level of goofiness and think otherwise?

Love this trend!
And love that this cutie pie mostly played along lol. She's still more interested in where her peeps are than screens!

A cheeky way of saying I will support your feeding plan. No matter what that looks like.

Breast, bottle, combo or still figuring it out?

I have plenty of professional and lived experience with breast and chest feeding, along with lots of enrichment education in this area.

If bottle feeding is what works for your family, I can help with that as well. No matter what is in the bottle, I can assist with choosing the right one for your situation and suggest different holds and techniques to help, especially if you are going between bottle and breast.

Pumping? Let’s chat timing, amounts, and fl**ge sizing for optimal outputs.

Combo or (temporarily) triple feeding? Let’s talk about a schedule that protects your mental health as well as the growth of your baby.

If your plan includes zero human milk, no problem and no judgement here. My end goal is your comfort. I support what works best for your family situation.

When feeding looks different:
I also support families using NG tube feeding and understand the extra layers it can bring. Whether this is a short-term need or part of a longer journey, I offer calm, informed support that centres both your baby’s needs and your well-being.

No matter the scenario, everyone deserves informed, judgement-free support and education.

I'm curious where you are with feeding right now. Want to share?

Parents often wonder how I get so much done in a 3-hour shift.

I always remind them that I’m not carrying the mental and physical load that they are 24/7 (while sleep-deprived!), and that doulas are masters of gentle multitasking.

Want to test your own doula skills?
How would you tackle this shift:

You arrive just as baby is falling asleep.
Mom wants to pump. Both parents want to nap.

The request list:
• 3 loads of laundry (1 to start, 1 ready to fold, 1 in the dryer)
• Recipes provided for soup and an apple pie
• Bottles to be washed and run through the sterilizer

💡 In what order would you do everything to maximize efficiency and protect the calm in the house?

For the past few years, I’ve chosen an annual word as an inspirational guidepost.

Past words have been: Bloom. Restore. Follow Joy. Reach. Balance. Nourish. Radiate.

I feel they share a clear story. Each one carried me through a season of growth, learning, tending, and offering more of myself outwardly. Personal and professional development and cultivation.

This year’s word is Savour.

A reminder to slow down enough to notice what’s already here. To enjoy the warmth, the growth, the meaningful work, and the small moments that matter.

And, importantly, to savour the care I offer while creating space for families to savour this season as well.

Not rushing. Not striving for more.
Just being present, attentive, and intentional.

If you’re entering a season where you’d love to feel more supported, more seen, and more held - I’d love to walk alongside you.

Here’s to a year of noticing, lingering, and letting care truly land. 💛

Do you create a Word of the Year? Please share!

We were a small but mighty group of doulas and friends on the beach at Point Pleasant Park this morning. The wind was frigid but our hearts were warm! Together and raised over $1,000 for the Doula Access Fund, helping make doula care more accessible to families who need it most. 🤍

Thank you for your encouragement, your generosity, and your belief in this work. It means more than I can say.

And if you’ve been meaning to contribute, it’s not too late, every donation, big or small, continues to make a real difference. epicaimeesilver@gmail.com 🤍

✨️Onward into an invigorating 2026!✨️

❄️ Note: I estimated I was submerged for over a minute. Turns out, the entire video was 48 seconds. 🤦‍♀️🧊🏊‍♀️🤷‍♀️

As finances feel tighter for many families and time feels more precious than ever, there’s been a gentle shift in how we choose to gather and celebrate.

More parents, not just those having a second or third baby, are opting out of the traditional baby shower or gender reveal. Not because they don’t want to celebrate, but because they want to celebrate differently. More gently. More meaningfully. More practically.

There have always been options.

• The traditional baby shower, with games, food, and gifts to help families prepare.
• The Baby Sprinkle, a lighter version often held for subsequent babies.
• Meet the Baby or Sip and See, celebrating once baby has arrived.
• Any of these can be hosted open house style to take the pressure off timing.

And now I’m seeing some really lovely new versions of the same intention. Community showing up for a growing family. These are a few of my favourites.

✨ Meal Prep Party or Stock the Freezer Party
Everyone brings ingredients or a pre made freezer meal. You prep together, chat, snack, and leave with a full freezer and a full heart. Future you will be very grateful. You can request specific recipes or list dietary needs in the invite.

✨ Grow a Library
Guests bring a children’s book or a gift card to a local bookstore and write a note inside for baby. Especially sweet if it was a favourite from their own kids. Add coffee, tea, and finger foods and you’re set.

✨ Wisdom Circle
Guests come ready to share a birth story, a postpartum tip, or a wish for your family. Write them into a keepsake book for baby. Serve mimosas and mocktails and soak up the collective care.

At the heart of all of this is the same thing.
Being seen, supported, and celebrated without pressure, excess, or expectation.

Because welcoming a baby isn’t about stuff.
It’s about community.

Now I want to know.
💛 What kind of baby celebration did you have, or would you choose if you were doing it again?

For the next week, I’m fundraising on behalf of the Access Fund — a fund that helps pur community members (YOU!) access birth and postpartum doula support when cost might otherwise be a barrier. That support can be free or deeply discounted, depending on need.

I’ve seen this fund in action firsthand, and I can’t overstate how meaningful it is. It’s real families, real parents, real babies being met with care, presence, and support at some of the most tender and vulnerable moments of their lives.

So on New Year’s Day, I’ll be doing a polar plunge to help raise funds and awareness for this beautiful work.

If this resonates with you and you’re in a position to do so, I would be so grateful for your support — whether that’s through a donation, a share, or simply cheering me on from dry land. Every little bit helps this fund continue to say “yes” to families who need support the most.

DM for donating deets!

Thank you for being part of this community, and for helping make care more accessible. 💛❄️
