May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month so we thought we’d share some resources with you!
Unfortunately Lyme disease rates are on the rise everywhere, and Nova Scotia is no exception. A good way to prevent Lyme disease is to do our best to avoid being bitten by ticks!
Things you can do to prevent tick bites:
🔹Tuck your shirt in to your pants and your pants in to your socks
🔹Wear light coloured clothing (long sleeved shirts and long pants) so you can better see ticks crawling on you
🔹Avoid walking in long grass
🔹Use a sticky lint roller and roll over clothes/skin after coming in from outdoors
🔹Use PureGard spray. A Health Canada approved tick (and mosquito) essential oil based repellent, made right here in Atlantic Canada
🔹Shower after working outdoors
🔹Do full body tick checks daily
