Just want to give a shout-out to the amazing work happening in my own community by promoting this event happening next week.

If you don’t know .es.harrold and you haven’t read her book yet, you really should. It’s an incredible (evidence-based) exploration of matrescence, and the transition to motherhood.

And if you aren’t familiar with or , you should really get to know them too (and there will be a chance to at this event!). Whether you are a doula, lactation consultant, or another birth-adjacent professional, this is going to be a great learning opportunity.

✨Sent her to bed with lemon ginger tea (she decided to rest with her baby).

✨Made chicken soup and homemade biscuits.

✨Cleaned the kitchen, washed dishes, ran and emptied the dishwasher.

✨Checked on my client, brought her water, and changed the baby’s diaper.

✨Folded 4 loads of laundry, and put away the baby’s clothes.

✨ took care of baby for the whole three hours, so my client could clean her house the way she wanted to.

✨ held baby while they slept, so my client could focus her attention elsewhere.

✨ took baby for a walk, so my client could take a bath and completely relax.

✨ chatted with my client about some concerns she had, putting her mind at ease with evidence-based info.

Having mental space and time to themselves is a big reason why new parents ask for my help! What is one thing you would love to have taken off your mental load or to do list? Tell me in the comments!

There’s a harmful myth out there that pumping means you won’t bond with your baby as much. But bonding isn’t just about how you feed your baby—it’s about the love, care, and connection you create. Have you ever been told that pumping is just like breastfeeding? If you've tried it, you might know that's not always the case. Pumping can sometimes be more challenging than social media makes it seem—your body needs time to adjust to a machine, and milk output can vary. In my latest blog post, I dive into why pumping isn’t as straightforward as some make it out to be and share real, evidence-based info on what to expect. Knowledge is power, and I want to empower YOU to navigate your feeding journey with confidence.

Pregnancy is a time filled with excitement, anticipation, and lots of advice from your healthcare provider. 💕 But it's essential to remember that as a pregnant person, you have the right to ask questions and understand the reasoning behind the advice you're given. 🩺 These five questions can help you feel more empowered and informed during your prenatal visits. Don’t be afraid to dig deeper and ask:

“Thank you for your advice—what does the evidence say?”
“Can you point me to some sources?” 📚
“How do you know this?”
"Why are you giving me this advice?”
“What outcome are they hoping for by giving you that advice?”

Understanding the evidence, the basis and motivation behind your care provider's recommendations, and how their goals align with yours can help you make decisions that feel right for you and your baby.

Remember, you are your best advocate.

Asking questions isn’t about challenging authority; it’s about making informed choices for your unique journey. 🧡 Knowledge is power. You deserve to feel confident and supported throughout your pregnancy. 🌼
