As physiotherapists, we see these misconceptions every day — and they often hold people back from real progress.

You don’t need perfect posture, zero pain, or extreme workouts to move better. What you do need is a clear understanding of how your body works, guidance that’s grounded in evidence, and a plan you can stick with.

Physiotherapy focuses on building sustainable movement habits, improving function, and helping you move with confidence — whether you’re recovering from injury, managing pain, or staying active long-term.

Sometimes the most effective advice is also the simplest.

🚫 PT Myth: “Running is bad for your knees.”

Actually — it isn’t. Research shows that running does not increase your risk of knee arthritis. In many cases, runners have stronger bones, healthier cartilage, and a lower risk of arthritis than people who are inactive.

When knee or joint pain does show up, it’s often tied to:
• Training errors (too much, too soon)
• Muscle imbalances
• Biomechanics or running technique

The good news? Most running-related knee pain is modifiable with the right assessment and treatment.

At Beaverbank Physiotherapy, Austin Nichol works with runners of all levels using video analysis and targeted movement assessment to improve efficiency, manage injuries, and support long-term performance.

If knee pain is affecting your training — or you want to run with more confidence — we’re here to help.

Hairy legs? Unshaven? Haven’t painted your toes since summer? Body acne, chatty, quiet, nervous — we don’t care.

At our clinics, you don’t have to look or feel a certain way to come through our doors.

Whether you’re here for physiotherapy or massage, we care about how you move and how you feel — not how you show up. Your comfort, progress, and recovery matter most.

So come as you are — every body is welcome here.

It’s the little things that make the job great — caffeine, strong patients, and perfect lifting form 😎☕

It’s the small moments that keep us loving what we do — one rep (and one coffee) at a time.
