Dry, scaly patches of skin on your eyelids can be uncomfortable and unsightly.
Common causes of dry eyelids include:
• Red, flaky lids can be a response to an underlying medical condition such as diabetes or eczema.
• Eyelids can become dehydrated and scaly due to exposure to an allergen, like a plant pollen in the air, or as a reaction to a new clothing detergent, for example.

Talk to our pharmacist for tips on taking care of dry eyelids, and for advice on when you should talk to your doctor.

Are spring showers triggering your migraines? You’re not alone. As many as one in three people with chronic migraines say that weather changes affect their symptoms.

For some people, weather changes can cause imbalances in brain chemicals like serotonin, that can bring on a migraine. Changes in barometric pressure and windy or stormy weather can also be triggers.

Read this blog post on how to cope when weather changes trigger your migraines:

When you have a cold, you can end up blowing your nose––a lot. This can result in a nasty side effect: a chapped nose. The combination of vigorous rubbing, contact with mucus and friction with the tissue can damage the skin barrier, leaving the area red, flaky, and sore.

To care for your chapped nose…

Run a humidifier to keep your skin and nasal passages moist.
Use a nasal rinse or spray to help flush out mucus and reduce inflammation.
Drink more water, to ensure your body is hydrated from the inside out.

Speak with our pharmacist if you have any additional questions on how to soothe your chapped nose.

During the winter, you’re spending more time indoors, breathing in triggers like dust mites and pet dander, and when you do venture out on a chilly day, inhaling the cold air can also trigger an asthma attack.

Fortunately, there are things you can do to help you breathe a little easier:
• Run a humidifier in your home, to maintain a relative humidity of 35-50%.
• Keep your home tidy by reducing clutter and dusting and vacuuming regularly.
• When you go outside, place a scarf or mask over your nose and mouth.
