Today marks 6 weeks since surgery… and today, I felt like myself again.
A day of firsts
Back at the gym
A trip to the farm stand
And a well-earned bubble tea. :))
This post isn’t polished or pretty. It’s honest.
This journey is far from over. There are still obstacles, limitations, and a lot of work ahead. But let’s be clear about something…
It took 6 weeks to get here.
I am:
Walking without aids
Walking without a limp
Cycling
Weight lifting
…and working like the dickens every single day to improve my flexion
This didn’t happen by accident.
Last March, after signing my surgery consent, I drove straight to the gym and joined.
12 weeks before surgery, I started physio.
4 weeks before, I added weekly massage.
That work before surgery gave me the strength for this recovery.
This isn’t a “two weeks before surgery, let’s get ready” situation.
It doesn’t work like that.
It takes commitment.
It takes grit.
And it takes believing you are worth the investment.
A joint replacement is a second chance at a better, pain-free life.
That deep, nagging arthritic pain? Gone.
Gone.
Now I just need to shake this boa constrictor off my knee… and we’re in business.
If you have a joint replacement on your horizon, take a hard look at your present and your future—and commit to yourself.
It’s not easy.
But it is absolutely worth it.
I promise.
I didn’t do this alone.
I’m incredibly grateful to my care team—you held space for me, watched me cry, supported me, and made a difference every step of the way. Thank you 🙏💛
