72km may seem like a long way to walk in 2-days, but I know it's nothing compared to the challenges men face for mere survival face each day. As Gord and I continue to train for The Long Walk Home, September 5th and 6th, we're very grateful for the YMCA Hamilton, Burlington, Brantford's valuable community support. The Men's Residence, for instance, partners with St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton to offer men access to both an addiction worker and mental health care worker. Together, with intensive case management, this partnership meaningfully helps individuals overcome struggles with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, addiction, and more.

Changes starting Sunday, August 31 will make a difference across Hamilton. Service hours are being added to routes on Upper James and the Downtown corridor, East Hamilton and Parkdale, Dundas, Rymal Road, Waterdown, and West Hamilton near McMaster.

These changes will make a real difference for communities across Hamilton, especially where we’re adding the most service hours: from the busy Upper James and Downtown corridor, to East Hamilton and Parkdale, Dundas, Rymal Road, Waterdown, and West Hamilton near McMaster.

Whether you’re commuting to work or school, running errands, or catching up with friends, the improved schedules mean less waiting, more reliable trips, and better access to key destinations, including new weekend service on Route 52 Dundas Local.

What’s coming this fall: Full Holiday Service Returns
It’s an exciting time for holiday travel on HSR. We’re reintroducing full holiday service on all routes that provide service on Sundays.

Why are Gord and I walking 72km for the YMCA? The YMCA Hamilton, Burlington, Brantford Men's Residence is helping some of our community's most vulnerable. Challenges like mental illness, physical disability, and long-term unemployment, can make survival seem daunting. The support the YMCA HBB offers ranges from everything from housing and food, to mental health and addiction support. And, yes, the YMCA also helps the unemployed with personalized job seeking skills.
