Today would have been Dar/Dolly Stamatelatos's 61st birthday. It was always funny to know that just around the corner was Thanksgiving. Which she loved. Turkey with all the trimmings, one of her favorite parts of celebrating her birthday. It was not just a day but, the whole lead up from her birthday to Thanksgiving that was important to her.

I have always held the belief that birthdays are important. I know I have missed a few people's here and there. But, in my heart and mind I remember that a birthday is special, especially at this time of the year and especially around Christmas. So Dar I will raise a drumstick in your honor this year, happy heavenly birthday.

Ok, here is a topic that is a bit touchy. But, I need to address it. I have been accused of being disrespectful for confirming the death of a person. I am keeping this openly vague. Out, of respect for them and their family. I have no issue with the idea that when I hear someone has died, I would be asked or would ask someone to verify that this is the case. It's not to be rude but, to make sure I do not mistakenly or the person asking me mistakenly does something awkward. This said, here are some tips for dealing with this very sensitive topic.

Good day,

Today marks the 6th month since Darlene's death. Dar, also known as Dolly Stamatelatos, died at 7 PM January 4th from a combination of Liver and Kidney failure, and quite possibly heart failure as well.

She and I were together for 26 years, but we actually met in high school in 1979 / 80. We dated for a bit, went our separate ways, and in 1996 connected again and decided to marry. We had quite the adventure as a couple living in Brampton, Edmonton, Montreal and finally, here in Hamilton. Professionally she was an Early Childhood Educator, and I up to today am a call centre rep. We have no children. Like any couple, we laughed, fought and had good and bad times.

She is missed daily and loved deeply and, like the picture below, the tree that represents her life has lost its leaves. But, soon it will be spring again and that tree will blossom with leaves and teem with life, and it will provide shade and joy to sit under as I remember what an interesting, lovely, honest and kind person she truly was. Rest in peace Dar and know you are missed and still loved each day.

Good day to all. An FYI. Dolly aka Agnes aka Dar had Facebook, Microsoft, and Google accounts. These are now being closed. Her Facebook account can still be interacted with. But, her email addresses will send auto-responses indicating that she has died until they are closed by Google and Microsoft.

90 days officially. Dolly, Darlene passed on January 4th of this year, and on April 4th, 90 days will have passed since.

It's also Easter, the time we remember that Jesus died for our sins, and because of his death and resurrection, we know that we will meet with our loved ones again and have an eternity filled with love and joy.

So for me, it is not goodbye but see you later. RIP, honey. We will see each other again. If you have lost a loved one recently or in the past, I hope that you find peace, joy, and love as you remember the best parts of who that person was and frankly still is. As they live in your heart and memories. Just as Dar's lives in mine.

This is the draft of the marker for Dar's plot. The death date is not correct, but everything else is what I would like. Yes, Dar had a bit of a sense of haha. I hated the song, but she loved it. Did I Shave my Legs for this?

It's a funny song that makes a point. Every now and then, maybe you should treat your spouse to a romantic dinner and night. This song is a lament about a woman who gets dolled up and finds her hubby more into TV and beer. It reminded me that it was important to treat my wife as special on occasion even when I was more interested In doing my own thing. That is why I chose this for the marker.

Monday, March 4th will mark 90 days since Dolly / Dar died. Time sure does seem to move fast these days.

Today marks 1 month since Dar (Dolly) died.

I now know the root cause, Hepatorenal Syndrome. Though not officially provided, through some research and keywords the doctors used, I was able to deduce what happened. HRS occurs when the kidneys and liver fail at the same time. In Dar's case, her liver was so badly damaged there was no chance of recovery. In severe cases like hers, 50% pass away in as little as two weeks. The fact that she went home quickly shows God's grace and mercy. For me, that is some comfort.

One thing I should mention was the call I got from the doctor, possibly a resident. It was badly done. I will not go into details. The hospital was made aware, and corrective action has been taken to address this.

Dar has been laid to rest at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, address: 700 Chapel Hill Rd, Stoney Creek, ON. You can visit, but at this time, there is no marker. I am going to be working on that shortly.

Just so all of you know. On Sunday my schedule returns to normal for the most part. Yes I am going to work. But I will be easing back to the normal routine over a day or two.

I'm a T2 op so I tend to get the offbeat and angry calls. After dealing with a death that can be hard to handle lol but, that is the job. I still have stuff to do with regard to Dolly / Dar's estate but that is mostly administrative.

I will update the memorial page occasionally as we go. Thank you all for your help love and support. Much appreciated.
