Big thanks to our therapist Faith for weighing in on some very common anxiety advice 👀

From the well-intended (but not so helpful) to the therapist-approved 10/10s, she helped us separate what actually helps from what just sounds good.

If you’ve ever been told “just calm down”… this one’s for you ✨

Grounding doesn’t have to be dramatic to be effective.

Sometimes it’s quiet.
Sometimes it’s subtle.🍃

Sometimes it’s just enough to remind your body that it’s supported in this moment.

If you’ve been telling yourself you need to “do more” to feel better, this is your permission to start smaller.

Your nervous system responds to gentleness, too. 🌿

Looking for a therapist can feel overwhelming, with so many approaches, acronyms, and options, it’s easy to feel lost.🤨

The most important factor in therapy isn’t credentials or style: it’s the relationship you build with your therapist.

It’s normal if the first person you try doesn’t feel like a perfect fit, and sometimes lived experience can help, sometimes it doesn’t.

You deserve to feel safe, seen, and supported. If it feels hard to navigate, our complimentary intake calls can help you find someone who might be a good match.🌻

If it feels daunting to step into your first therapy session, you’re definitely not alone.

A lot of people arrive feeling unsure of what to say, worried about saying the “wrong” thing, or wondering what therapy is even supposed to look like.😮‍💨

Your first session isn’t about fixing everything or having it all figured out.

It’s simply a chance to slow down, talk things through, and feel heard; maybe for the first time in a while.

There’s no rush and no pressure.
We start exactly where you are.🍃

Thank you, Belinda, for this grounding reminder 🤍

Starting the new year doesn’t have to mean rushing or pushing for change. It can begin slowly, with compassion, at a pace that honours your nervous system, your experiences, and your unique journey.

Real, meaningful change happens when we feel supported, safe, and met exactly where we are.

Therapy doesn’t follow a single format. ✍

Some sessions focus on reflecting and making sense of patterns, others involve noticing what’s happening in the body, and some are simply about being in relationship with another person. 🍃

There isn’t a ‘right’ way for a session to look like or to feel. What tends to matter most is whether the space feels supportive, collaborative, and responsive to you.

And if it doesn’t, let your therapist know!💫

Some wise words from our therapist Miriam! ☺🍃

Lets pause and reflect before we take on "too much" right at the start of this new year. ✋🏼🧐

Miriam reminds us; With the new year, resolutions can be helpful, but if they haven’t worked for you in the past, you aren’t the only one. Research has found that 90% of people do not complete their New Year’s resolutions, with around 25% “quitting” by the end of the first week*.

Instead, think about what values you want to hold onto in the new year, by reflecting on the best day you had this past year and what values you embodied or were led by that day.😌💫

Little things in a therapy room can matter a lot.

A cozy chair, a warm cup of tea, fidget toys, tissues….all are ways to help your nervous system settle.

Therapy isn’t just talking.
It’s a space where your parts can be seen, supported and held✨

“The holiday season can often be a stressful time, bringing reminders of grief, painful memories, relationship struggles, feelings of being overworked, or financial difficulties. As a result, you might feel sad, overwhelmed, anxious, lonely or guilty. It is important to remember that it is okay to honor those feelings.

Please be kind to yourself. We are all wired with creative ways to face our difficulties, and you have the inner strength to navigate this period. Remember to know your triggers, set necessary boundaries, say no when you need to, and seek help if necessary”

Thank Faith, our therapist here at BODYMIND, for sharing these grounding and compassionate words. Her reminder helps us pause, breathe, and approach the holiday season with more gentleness toward ourselves and others.🌲☺️

Your body often signals what your mind hasn’t caught up to, sometimes through intuition, sometimes through old protective patterns.

Learning to notice the difference can help you respond with curiosity and care, rather than reacting out of habit or pressure.🍃

You know that quiet sound in your mind and body you might sometimes sense?

Like a gentle hum?

Sometimes our nervous system gets so used to being overstimulated, that calmness can feel uncomfortable, even odd.

But what if that hum is your inner signal of safety?

A soft, steady pulse inviting you to slow down and tune in.

Try listening closely... you may be surprised at what waits for you on the other side of stillness.
