💭Let’s talk about setbacks, shall we? They’re those unexpected detours on our journey, the curveballs life throws at us when we least expect it.

🌞But here’s the thing: setbacks? Everyone has them, they’re totally normal and usually unpreventable no matter how hard you try to prevent them.

🤲 It’s important to remember that setbacks aren’t roadblocks; they’re part and parcel of the beautiful, messy adventure called life.

📈Setbacks aren’t signs of failure. They’re signs of progress, of growth in the making. Every setback teaches us something new. It pushes us out of our comfort zones, challenges us to think differently, to adapt, to evolve. And that, my friends, is where the magic happens.

💙So, the next time life throws you a curveball, take a deep breath. Remind yourself that setbacks are just temporary stops on the road to success. They’re opportunities in disguise, beckoning you to rise above, to conquer, to thrive. Every setback is a setup for a comeback. 💪

🚀 Embrace the journey—twists, turns, setbacks, and all. Because in the end, it’s not about how many times you fall; it’s about how many times you get back up, stronger, wiser, and more resilient than before.

In the past few weeks it’s felt like summer has quickly turned to winter as the cold weather sure has made itself known! Together, let’s try to get ahead of some of the stubborn ways that the cold weather can affect our bodies. 🤝
1 - Joint pain
🥶The cold weather can cause sore joints or exacerbate joint pain, particularly for people who have arthritis.
✅The best thing to do is to keep moving! It doesn’t have to be super intense or super long. Even small, low-intensity bursts of movement have benefits for joint pain.
2 - Muscle stiffness
🥶 Hand in hand with joint pain comes muscle stiffness. This can make doing daily tasks such as house chores or walking your dog more difficult.
✅Combat this by staying warm (add a few extra layers and keep moving) and including a good thorough warmup if you are going to exercise.
3 - Sickness & illness
🥶 The reason we get sick more often in the winter is because the body isn’t as effective at fighting viruses when cold air enters the airways, which is why viruses spread more easily in the winter!
✅Try to prevent sicknesses by keeping your immune system up and running! Get enough sleep, eat healthy, move your body in ways that feel good, and wash your hands!! 🧼
If you need some guidance along the way or are unsure where to start, we are here to help! Click the link in our bio to navigate to our website, or send us a DM / call / email to get in touch!
We hope you all stay well! 🥰💙

The only bad posture is the one you spend too much time in … is this a hot take?🤔🫢
👊 Let's talk posture 👣
One thing that we frequently hear our patients tell us is that they 'need to work on their posture'. This is usually accompanied by an eye roll and painful memories of being a child and being repeatedly reminded to sit straight or (insert threat here)
Here's the kicker, the research has been looking for a link between 'perfect posture' and pain for years and has yet to find a good correlation. You get some people who have the alignment of a ballerina and experience a ton of pain, while others walk around with Quasimodo level alignment and are pain free. In fact the concept of perfect posture is more a construct developed by the military than something real and important.
What matters more is the pain/posture correlation which lies in movement variability. The more you move and change your position throughout the day the less likely you are to experience pain. If you stay in one position all day things can get angry.
The name of the game is keeping your body strong in a variety of different positions and postures
🪑🧍🚶‍♀️🏃‍♂️💃🛏️
Your body doesn't want to be a specialist, it craves movement. If you sit all day, stand a bit! If you stand, have a seat or go for a walk. Just keep yourself moving.

Swelling can be frustrating, but we are here to help! Here are some things you can do to manage it at home 🏠
1. Elevate!
Find a comfortable position to bring the injured area above the level of your heart. As little as 30 degrees of elevation is effective, so don’t worry about trying to raise it a huge amount.
2. Moveeeee!
This may seem contradictory, especially if your swelling is accompanied by some pain, but moving the joint will create compressive forces and then relaxation, helping to move swelling away from the joint… which is exactly what we want!
3. Compress!
This can help shunt the inflammation away from the joint, helping to manage your swelling. Just be careful to not cut off your blood flow (don’t compress too tight) and don’t wear the compression all day!
🧊But what about ice? It’s great for pain management and numbing the area, but it doesn’t keep swelling away, so it helps only temporarily.
🚫 Avoid anything that causes significant pain or increases swelling. Slow and steady wins the race- don’t over do it!
🤔 And last but not least, some food for thought. Swelling isn’t bad! It means your body is working well and getting ready to heal.
