A pretty special full-circle moment 💛

This week, Painted Brick Wellness was featured in the Hamilton Spectator as one of the 10 finalists pitching for the FirstOntario 1Awards grant… and tomorrow we find out the results!

While working on my application, I remembered a story from 5 years ago. My mom had cut out an article from the Spectator about a small Hamilton business she thought was so cool: ! Katie had just won the FirstOntario 1Awards grant, which is why she was featured in the paper.

Now, five years later, I’m pitching for that same award.

Since opening the clinic, I’ve been going to more networking events and have actually gotten to meet Katie and become friends with her, which feels really special too. There’s something so beautiful about seeing community come full circle like that.

I’m Hamilton born and raised, and growing up, my mom always read the Spectator. To now find ourselves in its pages feels incredibly meaningful.

Though my mom isn’t here to see the beginning of Painted Brick Wellness, she was the very first person I ever told the name to. I know she would’ve been cutting this article out and putting it up everywhere. I know she would be so deeply proud of what we’re building.

No matter what happens tomorrow, this already feels incredibly special. 💛

I’m still kind of in awe that we had the opportunity to pitch for the 1Awards and be recognized as one of the Top 10 businesses 💛

No matter what happens this week, it already feels so special to see a community-driven way of doing business being acknowledged and celebrated!!

As a collective, so much of what we believe in is shared success, collaboration, and building something that supports both practitioners and the community around us. In so many ways, that feels deeply aligned with the values of a credit union too, which made this experience feel even more meaningful.

We find out this week whether we receive the grant, so I’m feeling equal parts excited and nervous. Either way, I’m so grateful for the opportunity, the conversations, and all the support we’ve felt along the way!

I’ll keep everyone posted… whether it’s celebrations or hugs 💛

Build it, and they will come.

From the very beginning, Painted Brick Wellness has always been more than a clinic. It’s a gathering space. A place for connection, creativity, and community 💛💛💛

Over the years, we’ve gathered for Word of the Year workshops, monthly spiritual circles, mindful evenings, creative projects, resin workshops, sound baths, and natural cleaning product workshops... each one bringing people together in a different way, but always rooted in connection.

Being able to offer a third space like this has truly been an honour… and we’re just getting started!!

In all seriousness… both .elizabeth and .zoe are genuinely excited about this one😌🦷

A couple month’s ago we completed the advanced TMD/TMJD training with Jules Poulin at and we’re thrilled to bring this work into the clinic and to all of you!

Jaw pain. Clenching. Headaches. Facial tension. Clicking. Limited opening. Tongue posture. Cervical tension.

It’s all more connected than most people realize.

And with Corina from offering Myofunctional Therapy within our clinic, we’re able to look at jaw health through an even wider lens… from muscle tension and joint mechanics to breathing patterns, tongue posture, and functional movement.

Last week I had the honour of presenting Painted Brick Wellness standing in front of incredible local leaders and pitching Painted Brick Wellness as a Top 10 finalist in the FirstOntario 1Awards!!

This recognition truly means so much- not just for us, but for the model we’ve built together!

Our clinic operates as a co-operative - a collective business model- where every practitioner runs their own independent business within our shared space. It’s a different approach to the clinic model and having it recognized on this platform is truly such an honour !

Since opening our doors in November 2023, we’ve been proud to support the growth of 6 incredible practitioners - many of whom launched their businesses right here with us.

Some just beginning their careers, some were looking for more connection and community, and all were ready to step away from the traditional clinic model in search of greater autonomy, ownership, and the opportunity to build something that truly felt like their own. Getting to support and cheerlead each practitioner build something meaningful, and seeing their businesses continue to grow into purpose-driven practices, has truly been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey!!

At the heart of everything we do is a simple but powerful belief:

We are stronger as a community than we ever could be alone and that philosophy is exactly what aligned us with the 1Awards vision!

What excites us most about this opportunity isn’t just the recognition. It’s knowing that resources like legal guidance, marketing, mentorship, media exposure, and strategic business support doesn’t just impact the clinic - it creates momentum for every practitioner within our collective. Exactly the kind of support collectives like ours need to continue scaling and serving our community even better!

Yesterday we had the opportunity to attend a mental health event at .institute during Mental Health Awareness Week and be part of an important conversation around what it really means to support whole-person health.

Suzy and Zoë .zoe did such a beautiful job speaking about our space, our collective, and the many ways care can look within our walls. From hands-on therapy to movement, education, nervous system support, and collaborative care, physical health plays such an important role in overall well-being. .elizabeth Elizabeth made it just in time after the big pitch, and it felt pretty special to all be there together.

We’re so grateful to be part of a space where we genuinely cheer each other on, support one another’s growth, and get to share the incredible businesses that call Painted Brick Wellness home. Our collective includes:

We also had the opportunity to share some of our passion for nature-based wellness and the important role time outdoors can play in nervous system regulation, mental health, and overall wellness.

All of the RMTs at Painted Brick Wellness have now signed up to become nature prescribers through the PaRx program, which means we can help connect clients with free access to participating parks.

And if getting outside in community feels supportive, RMTElizabeth aka Lizzie also guides women’s hikes with 🥾✨

Not to be dramatic BUT this is so exciting!!!!

Painted Brick Wellness has been selected as one of the Top 10 finalists for the FirstOntario 1Awards and we couldn’t be more thrilled.

SO who are we exactly ??

Painted Brick Wellness is a multidisciplinary wellness collective in downtown Hamilton. Since opening our doors in 2023, Painted Brick has grown to include six independent health professionals who each operate their own businesses all under one roof. Located in a cozy restored red brick home our space holds a lot of intention and care. Our therapists bring diverse approaches to wellness, united by a commitment to creating a safe, inclusive environment where clients feel heard and supported. As a collective we work collaboratively to deliver integrated, client-focused care. Beyond clinical services, we also host monthly events focused on wellness, education, creativity and connection. More than a clinic, we are a community.
To have this model recognized means so much.

We are feeling really grateful to have been selected as a finalist with the 1Awards ✨

We’re so excited for the opportunity to share Painted Brick Wellness and the collective model we’ve been building. It means a lot to have this kind of support behind what we’re creating.

Congratulations to the 2026 finalists! Submissions have all been reviewed and after careful deliberation, the judging panel revealed 10 local small businesses that will move to the next round to pitch for prizes.
