Today on Remembrance Day, we pause to honour the men and women who have served and sacrificed for our country.

We remember that at 11:11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, in 1918 the armistice was signed, and we mark two minutes of silence as a symbol of our collective respect.

We wear poppies as a symbol of remembrance: of lives lost, of the cost of conflict, and of our hope for peace.

We honour those who gave everything and those who continue to serve. We also commit to nurturing the wellbeing of our community so that the freedoms they fought for can be so deeply honoured.

Lest we forget ❤️

The first snow always feels magical… until you remember you own a brick-and-mortar 😅

One minute of admiring how pretty everything looks, the next we’re out shovelling! Everything is cleared and salted and we’re ready for another cozy week at the clinic!!

If you’re out and about tomorrow, remember to give yourself a little extra time and drive safe!

Winter has officially arrived ❄️

Painted Brick Wellness turns two!

When we first started, we were three practitioners figuring out how to build a collective wellness clinic that felt collaborative and sustainable.

Now today we’ve grown to six practitioners and have been surrounded by a community that continues to shape and support us in ways we couldn’t be more grateful for!!

A huge thank you to the therapists who work in our space- your belief in this vision has made it what it is today!!

✨Tongue tie release✨

OK SO the lingual frenulum (connective tissue under the tongue) can restrict tongue movement. It makes it so the tongue cannot rest against the upper palate or move freely during speech, swallowing and breathing. The body will compensate, and that can lead to problems like difficulty with certain sounds, inefficient swallowing, mouth breathing, snoring or disrupted sleep, jaw and neck tension, poor oral hygiene and orthodontic issues.

Releasing the frenulum is a fairly quick procedure, but it’s not just about the cut. To get the best, long-lasting results, we pair the release with myofunctional therapy—exercises that retrain the tongue, lips and airway muscles. Doing therapy before and after the release reduces the chance of reattachment, helps patients learn the new tongue range of motion, and often improves outcomes for breathing, sleep, jaw pain and speech. Studies and clinical reports support combining surgery and therapy for better functional outcomes.

And because the body always compensates, addressing how the rest of the system has adapted is also key. That’s where osteopathy and body care come in-helping unwind old tension patterns through the neck, jaw, diaphragm and even the pelvis. Releasing these compensations allows the new tongue mobility to integrate more easily and supports lasting postural and functional change.

What people commonly notice after a successful release plus therapy:
• clearer articulation and easier speech
• improved swallowing and less effort while eating
• reduced jaw, neck or TMJ tension and fewer headaches
• better oral posture, nasal breathing, less snoring and, in some cases, improved sleep apnea metrics
• easier oral hygiene and orthodontic stability over time

If you have lifelong difficulty with chronic jaw pain, persistent mouth breathing or disrupted sleep, a tongue-tie assessment may uncover a treatable contributor. We start with a functional assessment, discuss whether a frenotomy or frenuloplasty is appropriate, and design a myofunctional therapy plan tailored to you!!

✨Community over consumerism✨

Yelp and Google call us all the time saying we’re not as visible “as we could be” and they have the perfect way to “help” solve this. The answer is always to pay for it- in a consumer culture.. but of course ! We much rather lean into our community for support! Your reviews (on these darn platforms), referrals, and all your kind words are what actually keep us visible and busy!

I’d also rather be visible to new faces by getting more involved with other local spaces and people! It feels way more meaningful to put my efforts and energy there than paying a billion-dollar company.

These fear-based sales calls always make it sound like we’re missing out if we don’t buy in, but we’re doing just fine- because of our incredible community and their continued support!!

Our community has always been more in-person than online, many clients not even knowing we have an Instagram or not having any social media ! BUT we’ve been trying to share online more and that has been such a nice way to stay connected and maybe reach a few new faces too!!

So thank YOU for all your support in growing our business over these last (almost) 2 years (our birthday is coming up hehe)

💛💛💛

✨ Meet Elizabeth ✨

Elizabeth (.elizabeth) is a Registered Massage Therapist and the founder of Painted Brick Wellness, where she also practices as part of the collective!

With over 11 years of experience, Elizabeth’s approach centers around helping clients regulate their nervous systems and find a deep sense of rest. Her treatments combine thoughtful pressure and intuitive touch, enough to help the body release tension without overwhelming it.

Clients often describe feeling like they’re floating in the space between awake and asleep, and that’s exactly where Elizabeth loves to work. She calls it happy purgatory haha ! It’s a safe space for the body to settle and the mind to soften.

Alongside her hands-on work, Elizabeth loves being a connector for all things wellness and also just a Hamilton supporter- sharing referrals, resources, and information to help clients explore the full range of offerings in our city!

If you’re seeking a treatment that brings your body and mind back into balance, Elizabeth offers care that’s grounding, and deeply restorative. 💛

✨Soul-Centred Treatments ✨

Over the last decade of being a Registered Massage Therapist, I have always been aware and incorporated body regulation into my treatments. But last year, on my mom’s birthday, I began my journey into offering Reiki, an offering she also shared in her own massage practice.

The more I deepen my own connection to self, the more grounded I feel in supporting others. I’ve been involved in a lot of mindful spaces lately and am currently taking a Spiritual Companion course, the first half focused deeply on self-exploration, and the second on truly listening and holding space for others. It’s been such a beautiful complement to my massage practice; as Massage Therapists, we listen in many ways, sometimes with our ears, and often through our hands.

Over the last 3 years through my own grief of losing my mom, my rock, it has also shaped how I show up in this work- a practice my mom and I shared. Experiencing deep suffering has opened my heart to the tenderness of what it means to be human and I think that’s allowed me to hold others with a deeper presence and care.

Many of my clients have been curious about this offering, clients I didn’t think would be as open to energy work. I feel grateful to hold this space and let clients trust in me to help regulate. I really believe that when we reconnect to ourselves, we help bring regulation and calm to those around us too and our world needs so much more of this!

If you’ve been craving stillness or are curious to experience this kind of session, you’re so welcome to book a Soul-Centred Treatment. 💫

💪✨When’s the last time you gave your forearms and hands any attention?

Tight neck? Achy shoulders? Upper back tension that constantly bothers you?
In upper body focused treatments we always make sure to include your forearms and hands!

We use them for everything-scrolling, typing, gripping and all that repetitive use can cause the muscles and fascia in the forearms to shorten and become more adhesed. That tension can restrict circulation, limit mobility, and even pull through the elbows, shoulders, and neck.

So during your next treatment, let’s spend a little extra time on your forearms and hands. You’ll be amazed at how sore they can be and how much ease you of movement you’ll have after they are treated!!

Your hands work hard for you every day- let’s give them the care they deserve at your next appointment!
