🌍 Today is more than just recognizing Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Awareness Day. It’s about deepening our understanding of its impact and honouring the children, families, and caregivers who walk this journey every day. 💛

FASD can affect each child in unique ways, but there are some common characteristics of FASD. Despite, every child affected has varying degrees of impact.

✨ Behavioural Signs
• Difficulty with attention and focus
• Impulsivity or acting without thinking
• Trouble following instructions or routines
• Challenges with transitions or unexpected changes
• Struggles with cause-and-effect thinking
• Behaviour that may seem younger than their age
• Social challenges — overly friendly, or difficulty reading cues

💛 Emotional Signs
• Big emotions, frequent meltdowns or outbursts
• Trouble calming down once upset
• High levels of anxiety or sensitivity to stress
• Easily overwhelmed in noisy or busy environments
• Strong need for structure, predictability, and reassurance
• Alongside challenges, many show incredible creativity, resilience, and determination when supported
