💛 Today, on World Su***de Prevention Day, we pause to reflect, to listen, and to stand together in changing the way we talk about su***de.

Too often, these conversations are wrapped in silence, yet speaking openly (whether you’re reaching out for help or offering support) can be life-saving. Every message, every call, every moment of presence matters more than we know.

And if you are struggling right now - feeling lost, overwhelmed, or unsure of what to do next - please know you are not alone. In Canada, you can dial 988 to connect with trained mental health professionals who will meet you with care and without judgment. 🫂

At Re:Mind, we’re also committed to creating spaces for learning and dialogue. This October, we’re offering:

📅 Oct 10 | Virtual | Understanding Mental Health and Su***de
A free, community-focused workshop in partnership with to break down stigma and build shared understanding.

📅 Oct 17 | Virtual | Su***de Prevention Skills to Help Someone in Crisis

📅 Oct 28–29 | In-person | Applied Su***de Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
A 2-day, evidence-based training that prepares participants to recognize when someone may be at risk of su***de and to create a plan for their immediate safety.

We’re so excited to officially welcome Megan Scotland as our new Marketing & Communications Lead here at Re:Mind! ✨

Megan joined the team a couple of weeks ago and has already been bringing her thoughtful, creative energy into all things content development, communications, and brand storytelling. She’ll be shaping how we share Re:Mind’s mission by developing client resources, building out content-related materials, and ensuring everything we create is thoughtful, accessible, and aligned with our values.

Here’s a few words from Megan:

“As someone who cares deeply about how we talk about mental health, I’m excited to support Re:Mind’s mission by helping to share its message with care, clarity, and creativity. My education is in psychology and human behaviour, and I’ve since combined that foundation with professional experience in communications, content creation, and design—always with the goal of making important information more accessible and engaging.
I’ve continued to grow my understanding of mental health and I’m grateful to be part of a team that’s working to make support more approachable, inclusive, and impactful!”

Welcome, Megan.. we’re lucky to have you with us! 🫶🏼

This year’s CMHA Mental Health Week theme is . It’s a powerful reminder that everyone carries hidden struggles—sometimes, including thoughts of su***de. As mental health professionals, we understand that openness and honesty are key to healing, but for people to feel safe enough to share, we need to create environments where vulnerability is met with compassion and support.

This is important because su***de is a growing concern in Canada, with nearly 4,000 people losing their lives to su***de each year. Statistics show that su***de remains the 9th leading cause of death across the country, with a significant impact on individuals, families, and communities. Over 10 Canadians die by su***de every day, and the effects reach far beyond the immediate tragedy.

Our communities are in desperate need of trained professionals, volunteers, and community leaders who can intervene, provide support, and guide individuals toward the help they need. ASIST training has been shown to significantly increase confidence in su***de intervention, saving lives and promoting wellness in individuals at risk.

To register or for more information about the ASIST training session, please contact myself, (Allie Myers) at info@remindmentalhealth.ca.
