🎨 Happy Arts and Aging Day! 🎨

Today at the Village, we celebrated the power of creativity and self-expression at every age. We hosted an art exhibit showcasing the incredible talents of our residents—including quilting, painting, puzzling, embroidery, and more! These photos are just a highlight of the amazing creativity in our Village. Thank you to all of our residents who shared their talents with us.

We also enjoyed hands-on workshops—baskets with simple materials, designing succulent gardens with pinecones, and exploring aqua painting. Every resident had the chance to unleash their inner artist.

Let’s continue to support and celebrate the arts for everyone, at every stage of life.

When the doors at her previous job closed, Julie Stratton-Raposo stepped into a world she never expected - and found her calling.

Now a team member at the Village of Wentworth Heights, Julie’s days are filled with smiles, tea, and tender moments with residents.

“For some residents, I may be the one familiar face they see every day,” she shares. “And that means so much.”

Her compassion earned her the 2024 “Walk in my Shoes” success award - but for Julie, the real reward is in the connections she makes.

Yesterday, our Village came together with culture, flavour, and enthusiasm for something truly special — our second annual International Food Fest on Main Street!

Residents, team members, and family members proudly shared their heritage through delicious food, vibrant music, educational displays, and meaningful cultural symbols. It was a heartwarming day filled with inclusion, respect, and celebration of our unique identities.

Together, we raised $756 for our Team Member Compassion Fund, a fund that supports team members in times of need. This event reminded us just how strong and connected we are when we celebrate what makes each of us unique.

Thank you to everyone who participated — whether sharing your culture, volunteering on your day off, enjoying the delicious food and helping to make this day a success!

Helping Hands from the Heights Fundraiser

Our Current Events Group is excited to be hosting a fundraiser in support of three incredible charities:

Good Shepherd (Regina’s Place) – We’re collecting financial donations, gently used clothing, and kitchen items to support young parents and their children living in transitional housing.

Indwell (Acorn Flats at the Oaks) .ca – We’re raising financial donations to help build a playground for their new family-oriented apartment community.

Hamilton Community Food Centre (Neighbour to Neighbour) – September is Hunger Action Month! We’re collecting nutritious food donations to support local families. Next time you’re at the grocery store, consider filling a bag for your neighbours in need.

Stop by the Helping Hands from the Heights table in front of the gazebo to drop off your donations or learn more. Fundraiser runs until September 21st.

Happy Grandparents Day!

Today we celebrated our amazing grandparents with wonderful entertainment by John DeMarchi and sweet ice cream sundaes. It was heartwarming to see so many families and grandchildren spending time together.

Take a walk through Main Street in retirement and longterm care to view special memories and enjoy the beautiful photos of residents with their grandkids.

🍌🍓Fruit Art Fiesta Fun! 🍊🍇

Who knew fruit could be this much fun? Our longterm care residents let their creativity shine by creating delicious masterpieces.

They say you eat with your eyes first—well, our fruit art was almost too pretty to snack on… almost!

It was truly a grape time had by all!

Another amazing collaboration from The Ruby and Recreation. Last week we hosted a wine and food pairing in the hobby shop with a live demo from Chef Kevin and Starr.

1st Course- Cremini mushroom Rissotto crispy enoki garnish - charred tomato coils - pinot Noir

2nd Course - Maple Herb Roasted Goat cheese Tartlet - Lemon Herb Infused Oil - Sauvignon Blanc

3rd Course - Grilled Nectarine in Phyllo - Creme Anglaise - Late Harvest Riesling

An afternoon of corny fun as we got ready for our annual Corn Fest! It takes a lot of work to husk all that delicious sweet corn , but we turned it into a party — with corn husking races, corny jokes, corny trivia, corn crafts, and all things corn. Who knew husking could be such a good time? Stay tuned for photos from the big day! 🌽

Our five baby chickens have officially upgraded from their tiny incubator to their spacious new home — and they are loving all the room to explore!
