On Friday, we had the honour of celebrating a remarkable milestone — Souham’s retirement after more than 24 years in long-term care. She is one of our original team members!

From the very beginning, Souham has been a steady, positive presence in our Village. As one of our housekeepers, she brought warmth, and genuine care into every room she entered. Her dedication has shaped the experience of countless residents over the years.

As she steps into this new chapter, we hope her days are filled with family, relaxation, and all the joy she so freely shared with others.

Thank you, Souham, for your extraordinary commitment and the legacy of kindness you leave behind. You’ll always be part of our Village family.

Please join us in wishing her a heartfelt congratulations and a very happy retirement!

This morning, the Village came together to honour the brave men and women who have served — and continue to serve — our country. We reflected, remembered, and gave thanks for their courage and sacrifice.

At the 11th hour, on the 11th day, of the 11th month, we paused in silence to remember.

“A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.” – Joseph Campbell

Lest we forget.

From all of us at The Village of Wentworth Heights, we remember.

On Halloween, we celebrated a very special milestone — the retirement of one of our long-standing team members, Mary Leigh!

Mary Leigh has been a dedicated, incredible PSW with us for over 21 years, caring deeply for our residents and contributing so much to the heart of our Village.

We wish her all the best as she enjoys her well-deserved retirement — spending time with family and friends, going on vacations, putting her feet up, and relaxing!

Thank you for your many years of service and everything you’ve done for our residents and Village. You will be truly missed!

Please join us in wishing Mary Leigh a very happy retirement!

Thank you as well to everyone who generously donated candy to make this day extra sweet!

Celebrating Diwali at the Village!

Yesterday, we proudly honoured diversity and culture by celebrating Diwali, the Festival of Lights. Our amazing recreation team members — Harmanpreet, Jasmeet, and Ravinder — planned a full day of learning, creativity, and joy for our residents.

The day began with an engaging educational program about the meaning and traditions of Diwali. Residents then enjoyed cultural crafts, including decorating diya lamps — small clay lamps symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness — with vibrant stones and colours, and creating Rangoli, beautiful floor art made using coloured powders arranged in intricate patterns to welcome prosperity and good fortune.

To continue the celebration into the evening, residents enjoyed delicious gulab jamun, a traditional sweet treat, and lit sparklers to symbolize joy, hope, and the victory of light.

Happy Diwali to all who celebrate! May this festival bring light, peace, and happiness to your homes and hearts.

Today, residents and team members embarked on an unforgettable adventure through Virtual Reality (VR)! Together, we “traveled” to Angel Falls, the world’s tallest uninterrupted waterfall, located in Canaima National Park, Venezuela.

Thanks to the support of Help Mobility and their VR technology, residents and team members were able to step beyond the walls of the Village and enjoy a fully guided experience that was both therapeutic and profoundly joyful.

We can’t wait to see where next month’s VR travel experience will take us. ✈️
