The Muse
Founded in 2015 by Health Sciences alumnus, Anna Goshua, The Muse is a medical humanities initiative based in McMaster University. After reading the novel, “What Doctors Feel” by Danielle Ofri, which documents the effects of emotions on practicing medicine, the idea for The Muse begun to take shape.
The purpose of The Muse is to raise awareness in the medical humanities, by providing an interdisciplinary platform for sharing stories of sickness and healing, and to further promote empathy in healthcare. Beginning as a magazine alone, The Muse has transformed into an initiative that wishes to engage and educate our student community on the topic of medical humanities.
Currently, besides publishing magazines on a bi-annual basis, The Muse has expanded into organizing events/workshops, running a blog, as well as posting “Humans of New York” styled interviews on our social media page.
