Well, winter fair is next week, so in fairness, we ‘know’ that we are always in for ‘one or two’ more weather events before spring arrives. But before it started, this is a photo of earlier today - feedlot and pens haven’t looked this great in years, especially at this time of year - I am so proud of this crew! Wow, what we have accomplished in these last 2 years. This chapter, for me, will end one day - but the legacy of Hamiota Feedlot is secure and will continue to live on through its ‘heart’: our feedlot family.
So gratifying to see these happy cattle. And it’s impossible for me to see it and not reflect on the sacrifices made by so many to get here. There are champions among the crew - the likes of which are made of something I am humbled and in awe to work along side. I will be singling them out in some posts upcoming.
This is hard work. Unpredictable. Self sacrificing. Family sacrificing. But that’s what it takes. Because these animals and their customers rely on us. It’s a privilege. But you have to have true grit and character to see it as such.
I remember, many years ago now, when I came in to re-brand the corporate presence of the feedlot - in my original professional field 🤪😊 - I remember taking my dear Lar through my marketing and brand strategy and process and how the brand, design and tagline rose so beautifully out of it. He had seen me do that work countless times before with other clients…but this was a special experience for us. I cherish it. It was part of our story - and that story proudly lives on.
I think about our tagline every single week - without fail. ‘Our Heart’s All In It’. I’m so humbled and grateful for all of it and I feel his pride for us all.
Thank you feedlot family.
