Since 1958, Gay Lea Foods has grown from a small farmer-owned co-operative in Ontario into one of Canada's leading dairy
co-operatives, always guided by a spirit of community and care. That same generosity continues today through the Gay Lea Foundation, with an extraordinary contribution of $100,000 toward the build of Saugeen Hospice's future home.

This community holds deep meaning for the co operative, as many Gay Lea farmers and their families proudly call this region home. This significant gift brings us closer to creating a compassionate space where individuals and families in our community will receive support and care during life's most challenging moments.

Mildmay Curling Club Disbands After 72 Years of Laughter, Fellowship & Fun!
A final meeting of the Mildmay Curling Club was held on January 5th, 2026 with several members present. Current president Mike Niesen, of over 30 years, presided over the meeting and discussions were held on how to move forward with the club. After 72 years and a downturn in membership it was unanimous to close the club and disburse the funds.
$10,000 would be donated to the Saugeen Hospice, $3,400 to the Walkerton Curling Club, $3,400 to the Mildmay Agricultural Society and the remainder $3,553.68 to the Mildmay Carrick Fire Rescue Station.
The Mildmay Curling Club would like to thank all the members, for their 72 years of laughter, fun and fellowship. See you on the ice!

Following an exciting 4–0 victory on Saturday, the Walkerton Midwest 49ers U10A team, along with their coaching staff, proudly presented Mary Kay MacKenzie with a donation of $1,050.The funds were raised through an elementary school dance organized by the team, with all proceeds donated to Saugeen Hospice.
The initiative highlighted the young players’ commitment to giving back to the community both on and off the ice.

I was thrilled to stop by the Saugeen Hospice office to present them with a $500 donation! ☺️

Compassionate end-of-life care, closer to home, will profoundly impact so many families. This six-bed hospice residence will serve Brockton, Hanover, Minto, South Bruce, Southwestern West Grey, Southern Arran-Elderslie, and surrounding areas. Shovels will be in the ground this summer and the hospice residence will open in 2028.

The Board of Directors of Saugeen Hospice Inc. has voted to move forward with construction of the new hospice, marking a major milestone in our community's vision for compassionate end-of-life care, closer to home.

With close to $8 million already secured in donations and pledges, the Board is confident that, with continued community support, we will reach our $10 million goal to build this hospice residence. As is common in major capital campaigns, the construction planning phase will move forward now that a strong financial base of support is in place.
