Hanover and District Hospital

The original hospital was established in 1923 and a new acute care hospital was built in 1973.

The Hanover & District Hospital provides a full range of primary care hospital services and selected secondary care services to the population of Hanover and the surrounding rural municipalities. It is a state of the art facility with a 24 hour Emergency Department. The Hospital’s vision is to be a rural acute care center of excellence and its primary goal is to achieve organizational excellence i

n patient safety and care closer to home. The services provided include: two state of the art Operating Rooms, Day Surgery, Obstetrics, Emergency Department, Specialist Clinics, Medical/Surgical In-patient Unit, Special Care Unit, Palliative Care, Hemodialysis Unit, Rehabilitation Services, Restorative Care, Laboratory Services, and Diagnostic Imaging. Other services located within the building include: Home & Community Support Services (HCSS), Family Health Team (FHT), a Psychiatrist, a Psychologist, Surgical Services, Chaplaincy Services, Victorian Order of Nurses (VON), Diabetic Education and Community Care Access Center (CCAC).

📞 Need to book an outpatient appointment at HDH? Follow these quick steps:
1️⃣ Dial 519-364-2340 ext. 260 to reach our Appointment Booking Office.
2️⃣ Booking hours: Mon-Fri (7am-7pm) & Sat (7am-3pm). Avoid high volume times (3pm) by calling in the evening hours.
3️⃣ Keep your health card handy when calling.
4️⃣ Don't forget to bring a copy of the paper requisition to your appointment.
5️⃣ You may be put on hold briefly - should all personnel be occupied

Our HDH Auxiliary has generously donated beautiful hand-knitted baby hats and onesies to our Family Centred Birthing Unit! These precious keepsakes will welcome our newest community members in the most thoughtful way.

Peter McCombie (Patient Care Manager) and Amber Sharpe (RN) were delighted to accept this generous donation on behalf of the hospital from Auxiliary Representative Joyce Wedow.

We were honoured to welcome Indigenous Elder Shirley John to HDH on July 16th for an enlightening session on smudging practices. Elder John generously shared her wisdom about this sacred Indigenous tradition with our team.

Nothing beats bringing our HDH family together for delicious food, friendly competition, and sweet treats! Our team enjoyed a fantastic lunch while our Employee Wellness partner Employee Wellness Solutions Network set up a golf putting contest that had everyone showing off their skills. And that parfait bar? Let's just say it was the perfect way to cool down on a beautiful summer day!

Can't wait for our next Staff BBQ during Staff Appreciation Week! Because celebrating our amazing team never gets old. 💙

Exciting News! Hanover & District Hospital and Hanover Medical Associates are partnering with Queen's University School of Medicine to train the next generation of rural doctors!

Starting this year, Queen's medical students will complete 14-week rotations in our community, gaining hands-on experience in family medicine, hospital care, and emergency services. This partnership strengthens our commitment to building a robust rural healthcare workforce for the future.
