High Volumes & Long Wait Times in Our Emergency Department 🚨
It’s flu and illness season, and our Emergency Department is experiencing high patient volumes, increased acuity, and longer wait times. A number of patients who require admission are waiting in the ED for inpatient beds, which is limiting our capacity to see new patients as quickly as we would like.

Please remember:
• Emergency care does not operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Patients are prioritized based on the urgency of their condition through the triage process.
• Arriving by EMS does not guarantee immediate treatment. If you are stable and “fit to sit,” you may wait in the waiting room like other patients.

If you need emergency care, please still come—our team is here for you.
If your condition is not an emergency, please consider:
• Your family doctor or nurse practitioner
• Telehealth or virtual care services

Our care teams are working diligently to provide safe, high-quality care to everyone who comes through our doors. We appreciate the patience and understanding of our community during periods of high demand.
