Nature is so cool!

Photographer Tony Austin recently captured an extraordinary moment during a 3-hour nature walk. As a murder of crows landed nearby, one of the crows caught his attention with its unusual behavior. Curious, Tony started taking photos—and what he documented was fascinating!

The crow was “anting,” a unique behavior where birds land on anthills, letting ants crawl through their feathers. The ants release formic acid, which acts as a natural insecticide, fungicide, and bactericide—helping the birds rid themselves of harmful pathogens. Nature’s self-care routine at its finest! 🐦🐜✨

Shared for wonder and learning—credits to the original storyteller!

Neptune in Pisces
Neptune rules Pisces. Both have to do with smoke and mirrors, the unconscious and the field of consciousness. It's imagination, ideals, dreams, drugs and illusions. Neptune is the veil and the spirit. The visual that comes to mind when describing this transit is a picture hanging on the wall of Robin Williams' office in the movie Good Will Hunting. The painting is of a churning ocean rocking a little rowboat with one passenger rowing. - alone in the vastness
We have been several years now experiencing neptune in Pisces. Everything, especially beliefs, faith, religion, understanding of the nature of reality - has come into question. Many new ideas and concepts have come into our field of consciousness. Many have gone out with the bath water. Neptune entered Pisces in 2012. The Mayan calendar came to an end that year. Indeed, we might say that it was the end of the world as we knew it then.

That same year, Jupiter was in Gemini, as it is now; saturn and uranus both changed signs, as will happen soon. So there was a similar "things will never be the same" feeling that resonates with current configurations. The extreme Pisces "all at sea" experience struggles with nailing things down, feels uncertain about what is true or who can be trusted. Neptune casts a shroud, causes doubt, deceives, dissolves boundaries, creates rot and dissemination, makes us sleepy, wanting to escape. The higher octave of Neptune is spirit, imagination, dreams - Divine Love, compassion and mysticism. I am inspired to write about neptune in pisces because it has been a long and confusing journey since 2012. There have been many lies, betrayals, mysteries, secrets that have come to the surface. In our little rowboat we see something in the corner of our eye. Is that a whale or a shark? Should we be afraid or thrilled? How do we know what to believe? Wait for it, wait for it...

As neptune traverses the final degrees and minutes of it's home sign, we might want to review this illusory chunk of time and take note of the lessons and realizations it has afforded us. Because, not only is neptune ending its sojourn on home turf, but it is the end of the line on the zodiac wheel. In march 2025, partnered with saturn, neptune will enter the sign of Aries, arriving at the Aries Point. Degree 1 of the zodiac represents the world at large. Aries is the head, the ego, the beginning. It is fire, inspiration, movement and initiation - also conflict and war. Hisorically war, particularly civil, has broken out over a lie, an ideal or belief, often resulting in rebellion, reform, dissolution and new agreements. It doesn't have to be like that. Neptune's teaching is meant to wake us up so that we will initiate a more evolved way of life without fisty-cuffs..

As each planet travels through the houses of our chart, it reveals to us certain aspects of ourselves and our relationship with reality. For example, this transit of neptune in Pisces has occured in my 6th house of health, daily routine and work, including co-workers. I experienced many different versions of neptunian employees. One gave a false name, one suffered from mental illness, one was a drug addict, one was stealing, one was a dreamer,... I'm sure you can think of some recent deceptions in the health department. You might have this transit occuring in your 11th house. That would affect your team/group/community, social media, network, online experience. It would be like a cloud passing over the screen, team members leaving or dying, perhaps misunderstandings, betrayal or deceptions. It could also represent the ultimate Dream Team, granting of wishes, group meditation or putting imaginations together. Isn't Free Will great?

I think that this journey since 2012 has been a journey inward. Our ability to trust has been shaken, established truths and norms turned upside-down. Neptune, like the ocean, can be very, very good or very, very bad. It is hardly ever calm, still, reliable or unchanging. Hopefully, as this long, dreamy transit comes to a close, we can take stock and answer the question: Where is the lighthouse? Where is your port in the storm? Who do you turn to? Who, what or where is your True North? I will tell you some conclusions that i have drawn. In my experience, the universe has demonstrated to me that i create my own reality. Even if we are living in The Truman Show, I can have a good day or a bad day - it's my choice. Nobody knows like my nose.

There is a strong impulse in the collective to go with the flow. AI, the Media and social mores urge us to conform. The individual is asked to sacrifice or compromise. I am hoping that the collective conscious (neptune) in Aries will bring back strong convictions, integrity, leadership, new beginnings that encourage self-awareness, sovereignty and Simplicity. If I haven't made my point, I'm saying trust your gut. Most of what's going through your mind is not you. You are nature. She is your best reflection.

Rise up people. It’s time.

08/29/2024

Please read and sign this letter and petition. The health and well being of future generations of children and salmon depend on it!

Mainstream media would have you believe the Nisga’a Nation is all-in on LNG. They’ve hired construction giants Bechtel and Ledcor to begin clearing the way for a new fracked gas pipeline to the proposed Ksi Lisims LNG terminal. They intend to get shovels in the ground in the next two weeks.

But hundreds of people in the four Nisga’a villages have signed a petition demanding a halt to the Prince Rupert Gas Transmission pipeline (PRGT). And Nisga’a citizens around the province are taking to social media to ask why their government is being so secretive.

The LNG Canada / Coastal GasLink project cost $55 billion. PRGT is longer and even more complex. Where is the Nisga’a Nation going to borrow that kind of money?

The Nisga’a government has partnered with a mysterious Texas corporation called “Western LNG” to buy the pipeline. Western LNG has never built a project. Who or what is Western LNG?

The PRGT consortium has hired notorious U.S. engineering company Bechtel to oversee construction. Why are American war profiteers being brought in to build a pipeline through unceded Indigenous lands?

It’s not just Nisga’a people raising concerns. The proposed gas terminal would sit on Pearse Island, which is territory claimed by the Ts’ymsyen tribes. The hereditary chiefs, and the band government in Lax Kw’alaams, have come out strongly against the LNG tanker terminal.

The Gitanyow are worried too. They rely on salmon from the Nass watershed, where the pipeline would go. Farther east, Gitxsan house groups that were never consulted on the pipeline are vowing legal action, and even blockades.

The B.C. government is stoking these tensions by allowing construction under an outdated, 10-year-old Environmental Assessment certificate. They have the power to stop this from erupting into conflict.

Tell government ministers to halt PRGT construction, and put the pipeline through a new review.

B.C.’s Environmental Assessment laws have changed since the pipeline was approved in 2014. And major projects now require Free, Prior and Informed Consent from Indigenous nations.

Energy markets have changed. Public attitudes toward oil and gas expansion have changed. And our climate is undergoing drastic changes, which would be made worse by another methane-belching gas terminal, pipeline and thousands of fracking wells.

The project has changed too. It’s called the Prince Rupert Gas Transmission pipeline, but it doesn’t even go to Prince Rupert. At this very moment the company is seeking a major route amendment that would add a seafloor spur to Pearse Island.

The public comment period for this major amendment ends September 3 – after Bechtel and Ledcor plan to start construction on the pipeline.

Tell the B.C. government to stop this farce. PRGT needs a new Environmental Assessment.

Thanks for taking action,

Kai Nagata
Dogwood

P.S. Ministers are trying to wash their hands of this looming conflict. They say with the election coming, they’re powerless to do anything. But they’re still the government until the writs drop on September 20. Tell them to halt PRGT construction, and put the pipeline through a new review.

Thanks for all you do,

The No Tankers team

My dear sister friend Bonnie Vickers has passed away🥺

What to say about such an extraordinary woman? English is one of the few languages that speak of those who have transitioned to the next life as “dead”. Life does not die, it changes. For this reason, as is culturally appropriate, I will refer to my dear friend and sister Bonnie as very much alive, in the present tense, listening and still loving us.
Bon, I carry such respect for who you are, your passion for life and your resiliency to life’s challenges was off the charts. You inspire me with your love and passion for love of life, despite the fact that you suffered so much. Your heart often broken, your body wracked with pain, and shouldering poverty that was largely borne of taking care of so many other people. And you always put children first. The value of all children belonging to you, you took very personally and have always been such an amazing advocate for children, the poor, the elders and the underdog. It has never mattered what colour, gender, age or religion, you gave voice to the rights of the downtrodden. You did this often at your own personal cost and detriment.
I have seen hardened, tough teenage boys and girls remembering your love from when they were young, stand there as you showered them with hugs and kisses and your big, boisterous heart that is such a balm to those broken by life. I have worked with many amazing people who are gifted in working with children and youth, but none surpass your ability to go into a room not knowing any of the students and have those kids eating out of your hands within the first half hour. How? Because you love them. You love them and they feel that. Of all the skills of childcare and educating, the most important one is love. Love can not be faked or fabricated. It is only believable when it is authentic. And I am one of many people who has experienced your love, a gift beyond compare.
I miss your throaty laugh, and your cussin’. You have always been good at a deep, broad session of cussin’ when cussin’ was needed. How many thousands of hours have you and I spent talkin’ s**t, cussin’ and laughing our fool heads off? I treasure every single one of them.
I wish I were in the Kootenays right now to help wash your body, smudge you and sing and drum for you in your passing time, and to be around people who know you and can help me reminisce about you. Instead, I have filled the Chanumpa Wakan, the Sacred Pipe with prayers for you and your family and community. I have set out a spirit plate, so you are not ‘hangry’ when you reach the pearly gates😊I have sung prayer songs for you my friend, both lamenting your passing and celebrating the gift of you. Creator lent us you for a good long spell. For that I am eternally grateful.

I’m not going to say rest in peace as you are not going anywhere, nor will you be resting. You live on the other side of the veil where these is no hunger, heart ache, body pains or worries. You live amongst us, guiding, loving and teaching those of us who open our heart to it. You just pulled an Obiwan Kenobi! Show off!
I love you with all my heart my sister friend.

The work for the pipeline has started in the Kispiox Valley
The corporations are working to kill all life on Gitxsan lax yip (traditional territory)
Environmental assessments done by the corporations cannot be trusted
They are liars. Time and time again they have lied. When a person or group lies then they are liars.
Please!
Gitksan nation rise up!
I know you’re tired and broken hearted from so much grief from the genocide that is being inflicted upon you
But a good fifty percent of grief is rage
Instead of directing that rage towards yourselves and each other, please use that rage responsibly. Let it fuel your courage! Stand up!
Remember the spirits of people like Mary Mc Kenzie and Mary Johnson and Mary Blackwater and. Countless other Simoogyet and Elders and warriors cut from the same kind of cloth.
Awaken! Arise! Warrior up!
But please be smart and strategic behind responsible leadership. Not all chiefs are crooked
Gitxsan are renowned for their strategic thinking and intelligence.
These corporations only need do a “bit of work” and then they will have sanction to move forward and complete the pipeline. Take action before it’s too late!
Stop them now
All life is counting on you
With deep respect and reverence I write this
Kat Mccooeye
