According to recent research from the journal Nature, spending as little as two hours a week outdoors leads to significant improvements in health and well-being.

Walking, hiking, biking, boating, camping, and yoga are all great ways to interact with nature and improve your physical and mental health.

The temporomandibular joint (TMJ), is formed by your skull and jawbone.

The bones of the TMJ are separated by a disc of cartilage to keep your jaw moving smoothly.3 When those muscles become irritated, the disc is displaced.

There are three main categories of TMJ pain:
-The most common is in the muscles that control the jaw and the connecting neck and shoulder muscles;
-Internal disorder of the joint, or a dislocated or displaced disc; and
-A degenerative joint disease in the jaw joint, like arthritis.

Your risk of developing this pain is increased by jaw injury, stress, or grinding and clenching your teeth.

Try some exercises! Warm up your body before you start. 🙆‍♀️

Use ergonomic tools - knee pads, lightweight vacuum, comfortable shoes, etc. 👟

Lift with your legs - don’t bend at your waist when lifting something 🏋️‍♀️

Avoid overreaching - this may cause strains or sprains. Try moving the items closer to you or use a ladder. 🪜

Be aware of your posture - try to keep your back straight and engage your core. 🧘‍♀️

🔥 vs 🧊

Ice is meant to calm down damaged surface tissues that are inflamed, red, hot and swollen. Ice dulls the pain and reduces inflammation and swelling.

Heat therapy is most effective for sore muscles, chronic pain and repetitive stress injuries. Heat improves circulation and blood flow, soothes discomfort, and increases muscle flexibility.

Whether your injury calls for ice or heat, both treatments are meant only to mask the discomfort of your injury. If your pain hasn’t subsided after a few days, seek advice from a chiropractor!

Is your back hunched over? Are your shoulders creeping up toward your ears? Are your legs crossed?

Take a moment to reset:
Sit tall.
Relax your shoulders.
Place both feet flat on the ground.

Your body thank you later! 😉
