🪶September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada — a day to honor the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities.

🪶This solemn day is a time for reflection, remembrance, and a call to action as we acknowledge the painful legacy of Canada’s residential school system and the ongoing impacts of colonialism.
Established in response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, this day is a reminder of the importance of truth-telling, justice, and healing. It urges all Canadians to listen, learn, and engage in meaningful reconciliation with Indigenous peoples.

🪶Wearing orange on this day also signifies support and remembrance, inspired by the story of Phyllis Webstad and her experience at a residential school — a powerful symbol of the loss of culture, identity, and childhood faced by so many.

This weekend, with hands stained by the earth and heart open to the turning wheel, I gathered a small but bountiful harvest—crisp apples and ruby rose hips, gifts of the waning sun. Each fruit, a whispered blessing, reminds me that even in life’s slowing, there is richness; even in the letting go, there is grace.🍂
