Join me, + from Decolonize and Rize as we speak on Cancel Culture and lateral kindness. 🍓

Cancel Culture and Call-Out Culture – its not only a buzz word, it has real world implications and ripple effects on our society and communities. Although cancel/call-out culture was intended to hold folks accountable when harm is done – what if it actually exasperates harm and upholds a colonized mentality?

Join us for this conversation to discuss all things cancel culture, how it’s connected to colonial approaches to “justice” and how we can use lateral kindness and other decolonized methods to hold ourselves and others accountable in order to build and strengthen communities, instead of tearing them down.

Please bring your questions as we will ensure to have time for Q&A.

This event will be recorded and shared publicly.

You can find the link to sign up ⬆️ (where links are).

I’d love to know, how does cancel culture feel in your body? Have you been “cancelled”? Are you afraid of this happening?

Our conversation will be weaving in three Indigenous perspectives - all of us have experienced cancel culture in different ways. 🦋✨
All are welcome

It is my hope and prayer that the people who change me, know it without a doubt.

I want to be the person who fills up hearts and cups, reminding people that their medicine moves me.

It really matters. I’ve been reflecting on this watching the outpouring of love and gratitude to a dear poet that passed. I hope they received it all when they were alive too.

If you’re here, I’m so grateful that you make this world a better place. 🩵

And know that what you see in that person that leaves you in awe, is also a part of you.

Drop someone a compliment below. I would love to hear who moves your heart and soul. ⬇️

Like many Indigenous people, I don’t “celebrate” Canada Day. However this June, I took more pauses to notice what has changed over the last 10 years.

10 years ago, when I spoke about residential schools or the impact of colonial trauma, it felt like I was speaking into a void. Things have really changed and for that, I am grateful.

The first half of 2025 has been filled with speaking engagements across Turtle Island and I have been filled with hope. This is not to say that we don’t have a long way to go, however I do see changes.

I have walked through many experiences of being a token and feeling like I was part of performative reconciliation. I have had to speak up and stand up for myself and my communities more times that I’d like to count. I have felt exhausted and wondered if anyone was listening or if my voice even mattered.

But this year, I noticed a change and I want to celebrate that.

So dear Indigenous kin, whether or not you are celebrating today – I have hope in my heart and will continue to carry a vision of mending and healing.

And to all the non-Indigenous people who have joined me in my vision, thank you, chi miigwetch.

Our journey can only move forward if we do it together. 🍓♥️🔥
