*IMPORTANT NEWS*
We have had a scheduling conflict so have changed our March sound bath date to Sunday, MARCH 16th!
🪱 The Worm "Blood" Moon 🪱
What is "worm" moon? what is "blood" moon?
This is more than just another full moon! This is also going to be a ~Total Lunar Eclipse~ also known as a "blood" moon. During a lunar eclipse the Sun, Moon and Earth all align so that the Earth comes in between the Moon and the Sun. This means that the Earth will cast a shadow over the moon (also known as the umbra). When the moon is in the umbra of the Earth, the Earth casts a reddish shadow, hence the name "Blood" moon.
Why is it called the worm moon? For many years, we thought this name referred to the earthworms that appear as the soil warms in the spring. This invites robins and other birds to feed - a true sign of spring!
However, more research revealed another explanation. In the 1760s, Captain Jonathan Carver visited the Naudowessie and other Native American tribes and wrote that the name Worm Moon refers to a different sort of "worm" - beetle larvae - which begin to emerge from the thawing bark of trees and other winter hideouts at this time.
There are quite a few names for the March Moon that speak to the transition from Winter to Spring. Some refer to the appearance or reappearance of certain animals, such as the Eagle Moon, Goose moon or Crow comes back Moon.
The spiritual significance of the worm moon is the reminder that change can be occurring beneath the surface even when it's not readily apparent.
A few things to focus on during this moon are;
○ gardening and planting - great time to plant seeds, both literally and figuratively (growth and new beginnings!)
○ focus on relationships - potenal for deeper connections and resolution of conflicts.
○ zodiac sign - Virgo. Which is known for its practical, analytical and detail-oriented nature.
If you'd like to catch this lunar eclipse worm blood moon please check it out Friday, March 14th and the moon should appear full for about three days around this time.
Please join us Sunday, March 16th at 7pm in the Theatre Room at The Elizabeth! If you feel called to wear red to symbolize the "Blood" moon, please do ❤️
